How To Do A Soap Suds Enema
I had a soap suds enema at a hospital ER after trying to manually remove feces. Now having fecal incontinence. Did the enema cause this? Take miralax (polyethylene glycol)
Irritant. Don't use: Soap is soap. Soap suds enemas are highly irritating to the lining of the rectum and colon. Aside from causing a bowel movement can cause a whopping inflammation (colitis). Tap water enemas or store bought phosphate enemas are safer (check with md, especially if history of heart, kidney, liver trouble). Oil retention enemas are lubricant. ...Read more
What are benefits?: Why are you performing it? If constipation, general recommendation: approximate more of a squatting position to facilitate easier passage of stool. Bring a small step in front of the commode, bring your feet up. Back in the wild, animals squat. Toilets are great, but not optimal position for defecation. Enemas bring diarrhea, irritation of the colon wall. Try more fiber in the diet. ...Read more
6yr use of homade soap water enema/fleet products EVERDAY cant go #2 without using. Some reason I cant go now even after use not constipated soft BM?
Chronic constipation: Chronic constipation is very common. It is not necessary to have a bowel movement every day. Using enemas on a daily basis will not help the problem, and can be harmful. You should see a gastroenterologist to evaluate why you are constipated and to make a long-term plan to treat it without using enemas. I would increase the amount of fiber in your diet in the meantime. Good luck. ...Read more

Constipation so bad I have bowel obstructions constantly and I've had an soap sud enema. Could there be a tumor in my bowel way?
Fred 61: You should absolutely be evaluated by your physician or a gastroenterologist with either colonoscopy or at the least flexible sigmoidoscopy if you haven't had either in the last 2-3 years. Obstructive symptoms like constipation can definitely be a warning sign that needs evaluation. Thankfully, most of the time, a tumor is not the cause but it must be ruled out ...Read more

Possibly: You may have had an incomplete disimpaction or may be having some cramping as a result of an increase in intestinal movements or gas. Enemas are not meant to be used as douche. The ingredients in the two preparations are quite different and the oil in the enema is likely to make matters that you are trying to douche out, worse.

rids some poop: Yeah, this was a popular idea in ancient egypt, but was disproved decades ago. You will get rid of some stool. No one ever measured "toxins" supposedly removed before and after the rx to see if it worked. Pt of mine insisted on high colonics as bowel prep for colonoscopy-failed; had redo the prep and the procedure. Empty bowel may look flatter, maybe you feel better, but not detoxed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No.: A digital rectal exam does not require an enema. Stool is not normally contained in the rectum, but rather higher up in the upper rectum/sigmoid. If stool is low in the rectum, usually there will be signals to have a bowel movement, which should be done prior to a digital rectal exam. ...Read more
