Maybe not enough: Most likely the xanax (alprazolam) is still having some effect. Probably it is just not working well enough. Other treatments that are often helpful include serotonin antidepressants (sri's like prozac, zoloft, lexapro) and cognitive behavioral therapy. You should talk to your doctor. But don't abruptly stop the xanax (alprazolam). ...Read more

DR. Prescribed 1mg of Xanax (alprazolam) but I still have panic attacks on that strength. Is it okay to try 2mg once. I only take Maybe 4 1mg pills a month.

Be careful: If you keep upping the dose, it becomes less effective and you are more likely to get addicted. You are also more likely to have the severe side effects. You might be better off using a low dose, and supplementing with other lifestyle changes, like avoiding caffeine, improving sleep hygiene, and possibly adding a daily medication that helps lower overall anxiety. ...Read more
