OTC antihistamines: When you are breastfeeding, you can generally take meds that were allowed during your pregnancy. You may be able to take over-the-counter antihistamines such as claritin, zyrtec, or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) without any risk. Drink lots of fluids and use saline in your nose. Allergies: Sounds like you are allergic to something in your environment. This time of year pollen allergies are very common. Avoiding exposure is ideal, but often impractical. Try daily use of otc antihistamines like claritin, zyrtec, Allegra (available generically) and use salt water (saline) nasal spray to clear the passages. If no better, ask your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more

What over-the-counter drug should I take for a running nose in the us? How about in india?

Neti Pot: The nose is usually running for a reason. The reason should be determined and treated. My first suggestion for self treatment, would be the use of a neti pot to flush the nose. Using distilled or boiled water with salt, it will help clean out the irritants and mucous. Saline nasal sprays will also help. For short term symptom relief, otc antihistamine/decongestant pills are available. ...Read more

Don't use decongestant nose spray [like afrin] more than 3 days because of rebound. Even better: prevention! what's the cause? Common cold [ride it out]? Allergies [nasal saline, hayfever meds]?
