Why when doing a 24hr urine test do u have 2 collect every drop, why does it matter if you lose a little of the urine? How does it change the results
24 hour urine: The short answer is because what your doctor is basing his/her decision on is based upon what shows up in your urine in 24 hours. Norms have been established based upon the 24 hour time frame. Missing even a small volume can throw off the results if what is being looked for comes in small quatities in the urine already. Best to be thorough and complete. ...Read more

When collecting 24hr urine for hormone testing, if fmv on day 2 occurs more than 24hrs after fmv on day 1 (discarded), shall I collect day 2 fmv?
24 hour's worth: The goal is get just 24 hours of urine. That means if one urinated into the toilet first, and then started collecting after that time, she should collect the last sample before the clock hits 24 hours. If it hits 24 hours around dawn, she will want to collect that first morning void to get all that nighttime urine. If that fmv is at hour 25-26, I would collect it and tell the doctor what happened. ...Read more

I have hsv1, from unsafe sex 8 yrs ago, ever since I have pain when my urine collect in the bladder. Feel tired, neg, hiv. Is this becoz of HSV 1?
Unlikely: It's more likely something else is causing your symptoms. I would first want to know your 'hydration status' -how much fluid you are drinking, because if u are dehydrated, this could cause urinary symptoms & fatigue as you mention. Try drinking ALOT of water for one day & see if this improves your symptoms. If ur urine is light yellow to clear, that means you're 'hydrated'. HSV usually is dormant. ...Read more

Usually nothing: Most people will occasionally have small amounts of protein in a routine urinalysis. A long as the amount is small (1+ or trace) and not persistent, it's probably nothing. If there is a large amount, may indicate something more serious. 24 hour urine will more accurately quantify the amount of protein. ...Read more

I am assuming you mean clear in color when you say white - if it is white and cannot see through it well, please go see someone right away, but if you mean it looks more like 7UP or Sprite, that means you are typically well hydrated, the more dark yellow your urine looks, the more dehydrated you likely are. ...Read more
