It's not over yet: ''Til the fat lady sings." You still have mucus being produced in your nose which instead of coming out the nostrils drops down the back end and you feel it and 'clear' your throat. Eventually your nose stops producing the protective layer of mucus and there you are, free and clear at last, ready for your next cold! Stay well!

More testing needed: Other issues may be involved such as esophageal spasm, achalasia, or scleroderma just to name a few. Additional testing with esophageal manometry, 24 hr pH study may be of benefit. You may also want to try taking a ppi i.e. Nexium (esomeprazole) twice a day to see if that would help.

Sounds like: You have enlarged tonsils! See an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist for an evaluation! Things should not be "sticking to" the tonsils! As far as the vomiting, I think you triggered your gag reflex! Hope this helps! Dr Z

I spit some blood clearing my throat. How long should it take to stop by itself if it was caused by swallowing a sharp piece of food? Will it stop?

Depends/yes: Yes it will heal but it depends on your ability to heal/clot. So the good news is that it will stop and no worries. Hi Doctor for a few weeks I have an urge to throat clear after food/drink this lasts about 10 minutes or so then subsides. I have less throat clearing?

Throat Clearing: Often this is due to thick mucus that accumulates in the lower throat. Green tea with lemon may help. Is there a sinus with postnasal drip? Ask your doctor about using Clear. Ease Lozenges - these are the papain/bromelain enzymes you melt in your mouth between cheek and gums to thin the mucus.

Tender throat on right side no pain wen swallowin but I feel it when clearing my throat and eating spicy food I also feel mucus is it an infection?

Probably not: Based on what was stated, and you are not a smoker with any other medical history, the most probable cause is GERD (see below). Would recommend cutting back on or eliminating tomatoes, onions, caffeine, alcohol, mint, chocolate, and citrus fruits. Also no food for 1 hour before bedtime and no tight clothing at the waist. Over the counter antacids as needed. If no improvement within a week see MD

I have been having problems swallowing for a little over a month. I can swallow food and water but it feels like phlegm in my throat and I can't clear?

Reflux: You may have post-nasal drips or more likely reflux affected your throat (laryngopharyngeal reflux). Your doctor should be able to help you establish the source of the phlegm.

I feel some disturbance in my right bottom side of the throat while swallowing saliva only no food. Every time I have to clear my throat before talking?

Sore throat: Hello Atharva, your disturbance in your throat sounds pretty mild since it's not bad enough to be a pain. I would call that a mild pharyngitis and it could be the start of a viral or bacterial infection but if you've had it for a few days and it's not getting worse it is probably caused by allergies. If it is accompanied by fever or doesn't go away in a few days I would schedule a doctor's visit.

See GI doctor: Difficulty swallowing ("dysphagia") can be distinguished as a "transfer" problem (difficulty moving food from mouth to top of esophagus), "transit" problem (difficulty moving food down the esophagus), "spasm", gerd (due to sphincter problems), or obstructive (webs, rings, strictures, ulcer, tumor). Best to see a gastroenterologist (gi doctor) for evaluation & treatment. Stop NSAID's too please.

GERD: Based on your symptoms, you should be treated with a PPI and see a gastroenterologist for an endoscopic. With your respiratory symptoms, I would be concerned that your reflux involves your lungs. All the best and be reviewed soon.

Feeling of mucous/saliva buildup in throat/mouth after eating certain foods. Recent examples: fruit juice, pepsi, star bursts. Need to clear throat.

Common, but...: These foods with high sugar and acids will stimulate salvia production, so this can be normal for you. M there is also the possibility of an allergic reaction to something in these foods and drinks. You can avoid tenses things or talk to your dentist about this and find out exactly why this is happening.
