How close do I need to be to a normal body weight to be a good candidate for liposculpture? Can i get liposculpture if i'm about 40 lbs. Overweight, or do I have to lose weight first?
If you're significantly overweight is it ok to lose weight quickly (like a low carb) or should you try for the conventional 1-2 pounds a week. I am 5'0 and weigh 254 pounds. I'm fortunant to not have any medical problems and I go regularly for physicals
Life long habits: Losing weight is the "easy" part. (not easy at all, of course). The hard part is keeping it off. Therefore, losing weight quickly will not accomplish your goal. Instead, change your habits to focus on pleasurable activities independent of meals and eat in a manner that is sustainable. That means slow weight loss. You should not attempt to lose 100 lbs in anything less than 24 months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Depends: Most solid organ transplant centers have a weight limit or maximum body mass index (bmi) for recipients. This not only varies from center to center but also varies depending on the organ being transplanted. Our center has a maximum bmi of 30 for pancreas transplant recipients, 35 for kidney as well as lung recipients, but no limit for liver recipients (we have transplanted patients in the 50s). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Could you tell me how much exercise should a woman over 200 lbs. Begin with when trying to lose weight?
Weight: I usually recommend calorie restriction and walk exercise to start a program. Aim for an hour of walking a day. Ideally one session but a total of three 20 min sessions may be easier for some to begin. After a few weeks the duration or the walk speed canbe increased by no more than 10% each two weeks. ...Read more
If you're a healthy BMI when you get pregnant but gain pregnancy weight and it causes your BMI to be in the overweight randge, is that unhealthy?
It depends/unlikely,: This depends on how much weight is gained during pregnancy. The average woman is expected to gain about 25 pounds during pregnancy and would likely still be overweight after it. So it's normal to be overweight in pregnancy. However, if the BMI was high normal before pregnancy it might be smart to have a diet and exercise program after the pregnancy. Best of luck. ...Read more
It can: Breast tissue is composed of mainly fat, with some connective tissue for support and the glandular tissue for making milk. That fat, like all the rest of the fat cells in your body, can store the fat from foods you eat. Exercise and changing fat intake in your diet can make you burn fat, which comes from all areas including breasts (which is why you can't just lose your belly or thighs or hips) ...Read more
Remember: In the short term, it's not so much what your eating but how much. Plenty of single participant cases of very unhealthy diets like the McDonald's Diet, the Twinkie Diet, for short periods(on the order of a month) have yielded significant weight loss and improved CV indices but a long term nutritionally unsound. Weight is related to calories in vs calories out, not necessarily the quality of cals ...Read more
Better way to do it: I am not really sure what you are asking but i assume you are talking about having the back of the bench upright to lean against when doing upright presses. With back issues you would do better lightening up the weight and doing standing unilateral dumbbell presses. This will work your shoulders as well as your core and help strengthen your back. ...Read more

Check hormones: I recommend you have hormone testing done, for overactive thyroid, which can cause excessive weight loss. If that is normal, you may want to avoid caffeine, which is a stimulant. Avoid smoking, for many reasons. I don't recommend gaining or losing weight quickly. The important thing is to put healthy things in your body. ...Read more
