How The Concentrations Of Ldl And Hdl Are Related With The Risk Of Heart Disease
Hi my mom just did a nlood test and the results are
HDL 35 Mg/dl
Albumin (+) (traces in urine)
Are they related in some way please help?
No: The results of cholesterol in the blood have no relation with the urine results. HDL is borderline low and LDL is slightly high, depending on the reference ranges of the lab you used. Also you did not mention how high the total cholesterol is, and if there is family history of heart disease. Trace albumin in the urine is commonly seen, not significantmay need repeat if your doctor is concerned. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
HDL, or high density lipoprotein, is a molecule in the body that is responsible for the transport of lipids (fats) from various organs including blood vessels back to the liver for processing and possible elimination. Because it helps prevent accumulation of lipids in blood vessels, HDL cholesterol is ...Read more
Confused by lipids - 132 total chol (good), 32 HDL (low), 101 Trig (good), 80 LDL (good), 100 Non-HDL, but Pattern B with bad peak/particle sizes. 69 apolipo B and 28 LP(a) both good. Risk overall?
Correlative: The LDL is like the trash bags that are left on the street weekly by the households. The more that are placed the narrower the street. Hdl is the garbage truck that scavenges the LDL (trash) deposits. The more the HDL the lower the plaque burden. The more the LDL the higher the plaque burden. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Cholesterol: Cholesterol has multiple components. The high density component is called 'good' and the low density component is called 'bad'. This is because high levels of HDL are somewhat associated with less vascular disease and high levels of LDL are associated with worse vascular disease. ...Read more
HDL good, LDL bad: High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) is protective and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (ldl) is a risk factor for heart disease. Total cholesterol is more or less a sum of these two values plus a contribution from triglycerides. For 43 yr old male, can high LDL like 160 and low HDL like 34 be considered 2 risk factors for heart disease or it's one risk factor ( cholesterol)?
My cholesterol is 257, HDL 57and LDL 176. Trigs are 136. Vldl is 27. I am 80 kg. I feel anxious, angry and tired mostly. What are my risks of heart disease?
My cholesterol is 249; however, my HDL is 162 and my LDL is 75. My doctor wants to put me on a statin. Am i at risk for heart disease?
Can't tell: Total cholesterol is only one of many possible risk factors for heart disease. If you smoke, have high blood pressure, diabetes, don't exercise or are male, your risk would be higher. Discuss the reasons your doctor is recommending a statin with him/her. Your LDL number is very good, as is the hdl. ...Read more
24 y/o female. 130 pds. Bp always 100/60. No heart disease. Total CHL 226. HDL 65 LDL 150. Told to change diet, exercise more. Is that concerning?
No: its not "concerning" at all...and the advice to change diet is to reduce your cholesterol/fat intake ( The "trend" is for lower and lower LDL and TOTAL Cholesterol levels! Ask your Health Care Provider for a GOAL..just to say "change diet" is NOT enough info The trend is also for patients to achieve higher and higher HDL levels (using EXERCISE to obtain this is a good idea for HEART CONDITIONING! ...Read more
