Many ways to gain we: Ensure is a dietary supplement. It is good source of calories. But there are many simple, more natural foods which can achieve this goal. All airy products(milk, yogurt, ice cream and milk shakes) are great source of extra calories. So is meat, eggs and nuts. Normal Growth: It sure sounds like your growth was not stunted. Not in the data you provided. I would be interested to have you include your maternal family body habits. Just because you are a male does not in any way mean you will be just like your father. ...Read more

How do I tell my boss that I want to be a stay at home mom?

How do I tell my boss that I want to be a stay at home mom?

Be straightforward: Just tell your boss that you want to stay home. In most of this country it's normal and accepted to stay home with your kids while they're small. I don't think anyone will give you a hard time, at least not to your face. When i interviewed for med school i remember one professor saying that if a woman wanted to stay home and raise her kids, she was doing something more worthwhile than medicine. ...Read more

What do I do if the baby I sit for clings to me when mom comes home?

What do I do if the baby I sit for clings to me when mom comes home?

It's normal.: When this happens with my kids, the usually sitter gives a quick hug to our baby, and then hands him over without any fanfare or long goodbyes or drama. Very businesslike. If you and his mom put on a dramatic show, the kid thinks it's a dramatic event. And even if he does cry, it's normal - he's obviously formed an attachment to you, which means you're doing a great job! ...Read more

Hi, I'm a stay-at-home mom of 2 small children. I eat too much and can't organise my time to live healthier. How can I be more motivated?

Find time for you: When you are caring for small children it can seem impossible to make time for yourself, but it is crucial that you have time for yourself in order to stay motivated and active for your children. Eating right and exercise can really help in dealling with unmotivated feelings. Talk to your doctor about your feelings. You might be depressed and it is so important to get treated. Best wishes to you. ...Read more

Is it a copout for midlife mom to hire nanny even if she is home part of the time?

Is it a copout for midlife mom to hire nanny even if she is home part of the time?

Tricky question: I hesitate to critique or judge other peoples parenting choices because lord knows it's a difficult job (and someone could write a book about all the ways i'm deficient as a parent). As long as the kids are in a loving home, have food on the table, a roof over the heads, are read to, hugged, listened to and encouraged... Then they'll probably turn out all right... Regardless of nanny. ...Read more

How is child development impacted by having a stay-at-home mom as opposed to a working mom?

How is child development impacted by having a stay-at-home mom as opposed to a working mom?

Complicated: In the early months/years family care will give the child more individual attention. Older toddlers/children can benefit from the social stimulation of daycare. The decision has to be what's best for your family emotional/economically. First two sons home cared by father - second set daycare and I see no difference in their development. Be sure to research a daycare facility thoroughly. http://www.livestrong.com/article/72423-daycare-vs.-stay-home-parent/ ...Read more

What should you consider when choosing between finding child care and being a stay-at-home mom?

What should you consider when choosing between finding child care and being a stay-at-home mom?

Choices: There are many things to consider - each family has unique circumstances but the most common deciding factor is economic. Like making the decision to breastfeed or not - you have to look at your situation and decide what's best for you. My college sons were home raised by their father - my middle age boys raised alone by me/daycare - and they all are great! http://www.livestrong.com/article/72423-daycare-vs.-stay-home-parent/ ...Read more

How does being in child care affect a child's development as opposed to having a stay-at-home mom?

How does being in child care affect a child's development as opposed to having a stay-at-home mom?

Day care: Day care has a great effect on the social, learninig & developmental abilities of young children. It also has the negative aspect of being exposed to other sick mates & put them at higher risk for catching infections, but if the child is fully immunized, the risk is less. Some children also suffer from separation anxiety. You have to weigh your options. Best wishes. ...Read more
