What to do if i could feel the strings of my mirena (levonorgestrel) iudhelp!?

What to do if i could feel the strings of my mirena (levonorgestrel) iudhelp!?

Depends: Its ok if you can feel the strings. Some Women feel for them monthly for reassurance that the IUD is still there. They shouldn't be felt near the vaginal opening as this could indicate that the IUD had fallen out of the uterus. They are normally quite high up near the top of the vagina. If your partner can feel the strings during intercourse, the string may need to be cut shorter. ...Read more

Went to the doctor so I could get my IUD taken out my string want visiable so I have to get a ultrasound to see where it is what will the doctors do?

Usually easy: Most of the time this is not a big deal. The iud strings which are usually hanging out of the cervix have gotten pulled up inside the cervix but the iud is still in the normal location. Most obgyns have an instrument called an iud hook which can be used to remove. Sometimes we have to look with a camera called a hysteroscope to find the strings. Very rarely the iud is not present in the uterus. ...Read more

Once monthly: Once monthly is fine. Many women don't check at all. The string can be hard to feel so it may cause worry to try checking for it & not be able to. Usually if a woman can't feel the string & the doctor can't see it on exam, it's because it has wandered up inside the cervical canal. This isn't a problem.
