That's why i recommend that you have a plan in place beforehand to deal with the pain caused by the procedure. Generally that day : Occasionally it triggers typical episode of "exacerbation" of pain which for a small percentage can last 2-5 days. If pain worsens or changes it could be discogram procedure caused a disc to herniate or herniate further. This is very rare & even rarer is risk of disc space infection -under 1%. A needle will be placed into the disc under x-ray guidance and an injection will be done under pressure. In a symptomatic disc this should reproduce your pain and in a normal disc it should not.
