Where do you work?: Most bosses are aware of the need to provide a safe workplace for their employees and in some states there are laws regarding providing smoke free zones. Insurances can and do charge higher rates for smokers. If your employer provides insurance, this is costing money to the business. Yes: You need to be seen by an ENT specialist, to examine your upper airways, you probably have some sort of inflammation / lesion that's causing such symptoms whenever irritated, best wishes

Second hand smoke: Second hand smoke increases a child's chance of developing asthma, allergies, ear infections, bronchitis and pneumonia. Babies exposed to smoke before or after birth have an increased chance of dying from sids. If adults must smoke it is best left to open air when it doesn't leave the deadly residue and carcinogenic chemicals. Cars and houses should be no smoking zones.

Not really: The material expelled from a e cigarette does not contain the toxic ash expelled from the regular ones. That said, e cigarettes promote the same "cool factor " myth about smoking and if kids find and eat/use the product, can result in significant toxic events.
