How Quickly Does Zoloft Start To Become Effective
Zoloft (sertraline) onset: According to research studies, about 75% of patients will improve in the first four weeks, but it may take 4 to 6 weeks for the other 25% to improve with antidepressant treatment. Also, it is important a person takes an adequate dose, for some, this may be as much as 150-200 mgs per day. I would go to a dr. Who would see me every few weeks until i was better. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
How long do the side effects of Zoloft (sertraline) last? How long till the medicine is effective and I start noticing a difference in myself?
Sertraline effects: some Pts notice mild improvement in mood or anxiety within days of starting an SSRI (doses are adjusted daily in hosp). pts will need to be on a therapeutic dose for up to 8 weeks to see full benefits of the med. Pts also differ with respect to SEs. Most Pts have only self limited or rather tolerable SEs (like dry mouth). Rarely, more serious SEs occur. Talk to your doc about your risks/benefits ...Read more

Yes: Doses of antidepressants like zoloft (sertraline) needed for symptom control can vary from person to person, and from time to time in their lives. If your prescribing doctor isn't a psychiatrist, it might be time to consult one. Also, working in psychotherapy can help you discover what drives your anxiety, and learn how to modulate it. The book "the mindful way through anxiety" can be very helpful too. ...Read more

How much is the probability that Zoloft (sertraline) help me if luvox didn't? Generally, how many ssris in average does every patient try to find the effective one?
MTHFR genotyping: If you have had failures, a good start is genomind testing which let's you see if you metabolize drugs that go through the cyp2c19 ; cyp2d6 pathways too fast, too slow, or just right. Also if you are + for an abnormal mthfr genotype, treatment with l-methylfolate, p5p, ; methyl cobalamin can help your antidepressant work better because you will be making your own serotonin, dopamine, ; nor-epi! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If Zoloft (sertraline) wasn't effective enough for my OCD on 200mg , nor luvox 200 mg ; what can I try? Would another ssri work ?
I don't think so: All the ssris quite similar mechanisms of action so it is doubtful that another one would help. Unfortunately there are no truly effective meds for ocd although sometimes adding a low dose antipsychotic med might help. Specialized psychotherapy is the best way to go [ask if your psychotherapist thinks that he or she can help]. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If Zoloft 62mg wasn't very effective would going up to 75mg work better? Tried Paxil (paroxetine) before and 20mg helped. Need safest option for breastfeeding.
Increase is OK: 62mg of Zoloft (sertraline) is unusual as typically this is prescribed in increments of 25mg. Zoloft (sertraline) is considered a relatively safe drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The difference between 62 and 75 is minimal, but if you are experiencing depression, try the increase, with consult with your OB/GYB. You cannot equate effective dosages between medications as their metabolic rate is different. ...Read more

Is 200mg of COq 10 safe and effective for lowering blood pressure? Current meds are Zoloft losartan betapace and nexium (esomeprazole). Any interactions?
There are two forms: of CoQ10. Neither has been regulated by the FDA. (One form appears to have more antioxidant properties). Several conditions have been associated with low CoQ10 levels including HTN, heart failure, certain cancers, gingivitis, gastric ulcers, etc. Currently there has not been a consensus arrived at as to the BP lowering effects (due to lack of controlled studies). May affect Zoloft (sertraline) level a bit. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
