How often should you use exfoliating body wash on back acne?

Daily: The washes containing salicylic acid may be irritating if overused. A wash containing benzoyl peroxide may be better tolerated, plus you get an antibacterial effect. One does need to be careful, however, because the benzoyl peroxide can bleach colored fabrics. ...Read more

Not correct: Acne on your back is not related to your brand of wash. "Exfoliate"??? How? Heavy scrubbing will aggravate your acne. If it is important to you a dermatologist will help you. ...Read more

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'. ...Read more

Back acne: If you are still developing widespread acne on the back, then you should talk with your doctor about oral medications like antibiotics- usually the topical treatments are difficult to apply on such an area. If it's the acne scars you're talking about, unfortunately there's no magic cream to remove them. Sometimes laser treatment by dermatologists can help with acne scaring. I'd start there. ...Read more

How do I get rid of chest and back acne it's really gross to me and it makes me insecure about my body now.

Oral med/treatment: Unfortunately it is tough to treat severe acne, especially on back because u can't see/reach well. This often require systemic/oral med. I strongly recommend discussing this issue with your doc--talk to your parents because you are only 16. If your doc is not comfortable with treating acne, he/she may refer you to a local dermatologist. There are many options for you. So, chin up....Good luck. ...Read more

Back acne: You would do better by using a Benzyl peroxide wash on your face and back. It is better to use a 2.5 or 5 % wash if you can find them. they are over the counter now. This can take 4 to 10 weeks to work. If you don't see improvement see a dermatologist. We have many more products available to us. You don't have to live with the acne. ...Read more

I am suffering from awful chest and back acne and it does a number to my self esteem, does any body know how to get rid of it?

I do: It's really unfortunate that it's been allowed to get this far. It can't be managed by home remedies or topical therapy. Your physician will probably give a trial of a systemic antibiotic and if this fails, refer you to a dermatologist for isotretinoin. If somebody is interfering with your health care because they "don't believe in doctors" or blame u for your disease, seek help from another adult. ...Read more

Many OTC products: There are many over the counter bleaching agents such as hydroquinone (2%), licorice, kojic acid, manganese when combined with glycolic acid or retinol can help to lighten the black marks. Kojic acid, arbutin (found in bearberry and mulberry), azelaic acid, niacinamide are more natural remedies that are safer for the skin. ...Read more

What should I do to take care of back acne fast?

Sorry: It won't be fast. A 47 yr old woman is not the same as an adolescent. Tetracycline is likely to fail. Need to know much more: menst periods? Meds? Hormones? Hair changes? Best therapy may be spironolactone, an antiandrogen. Usually it will be 3 months to begin to improve. Sun & swimming often help. Isotretinoin pills will clear it in 5 months but are a difficult treatment. See a dermatologist. ...Read more

Serious Rx: If it's on your back, you can't do it on your own, and home remedies and topical benzoyl peroxide probably won't touch it. Your physician can probably clear you in about two weeks with a systemic antibiotic that's right for you, perhaps tetracycline 500 2x/day. What should I do to take care of back acne and is it normal?

Scientific Rx: Acne is not normal, not a hygiene or lifestyle problem, and not something you have to tolerate. Acne on the trunk usually requires systemic treatment. Tetracycline 500 2x/day plus some topical is appropriate; some cases may require isotretinoin. If the patient is someone for whom you are responsible, please get this treated now, or there may be a lifetime of regrets. ...Read more
