How Often Do Normal People Get The Stomach Flu
Often: If you are in contact with many people on a daily basis for work or school then it is not uncommon to get a "stomach flu" several times a year. The peak season for enteroviruses (stomach flu) is spring and summer. During those seasons children can get sick every month or so especially if they are in a large daycare. The viruses are spread by poor hand washing and contact with contaminated surfaces. ...Read more
Why does viral gastro sometimes cause vomiting and diarrhoea if those two symptoms don't do anything to get rid of the virus?
They are symptoms: There are viral particles in your emesis and stool, but the virus causes inflammation that lasts for days so you can have vomiting and diarrhea for days. The damage that virus causes lasts longer, sometimes weeks. When virus destroys the absorptive layer of your guts, it can take a while to regenerate, and meanwhile, your food doesn't get digested as well and diarrhea continues. ...Read more

You won't get the flu from a flu shot because the virus either contains inactivated virus or doesn't have virus particles in it. The body can reacte to inactivated or recombinant material.Severe side effects are rare ...Read more

One of my children always gets fevers after a vaccine and the others don't. Why do only certain children tend to get them? Is their immune system weak
Do bulimic people feel ill the day after they vomit, like most people would, or do they become immune to it after a while?
Carts and horses: Vomiting doesn't make you feel ill all by itself. The reason most people feel ill when they vomit is because they're sick and they vomit as a result. Because a bulimic isn't sick, it's likely that they don't feel sick in the sense your suggesting. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
How come people with chicken pox can get shingles but normal people can't, and does that mean it could be bad to get vaccines?
So shingles is: actually a reinfection of chickenpox. Which means if you didn't contract the chicken pox virus, then you won't have the virus in your body to attack and lead to shingles. If you have never had the chicken pox virus you can get the vaccine to prevent it. If you had the ckicken pox, then you can get the shingles vaccine which reduces (not eliminates) your risk of getting shingles. Hope that helps ...Read moreSee 6 more doctor answers
I read that gonorrhea is no longer treatable with antibiotics. Now what will people do if they get gonorrhea? Does the body get rid of it eventually?

What you may be referring to is the fact that some oral antibiotics which use to be effective against gonorrhea, are meeting resistant strains. The treatment of choice for gonorrhea is an antibiotic injection (ceftriaxone). Other options are zithromax or doxycycline. ...Read more
I'm coming back from being sick with a respiratory bug to an office full of people who have the stomach flu. How can I prevent getting sick with this?
Does throwing up get rid of the stomach flu faster? And if your body feels like it is going to throw up but doesn't how do you trigger the process.
Cold season: "flu shot season" as i like to think of it occurs (for good reason) well before flu season. It sadly coincides with the winter cold and cough season and often with the return to school. This is a time of year when almost everyone catches a cold, and often the cold they coincidentally get around the time of the shot is mistaken for getting the flu. It is impossible to get the flu from the shot. ...Read more
