Is head x ray safe for 2 years old baby?

Is head x ray safe for 2 years old baby?

Yes but. ..: You always have to ask why is any given test being done? What is being searched for? Is this the best way to do it or is there a better way to get the answer? I don't know enough about your child to answer those questions now but that is what you want to find out. X-Ray machines these days use much lower doses than they did in the past. ...Read more

My son had a head x-ray, can he be at risk for leukemia later on?

Probably not: There is no concrete data but some suggestion that xray may increase the risk of leukemia in children. This also depends on the body location, with chest xray seems more significant, and dental xray and head xray probably carry minimal risks. ...Read more

Likely observation will be the right approach unless develops any vomiting, major change in behavior, etc. ...Read more

Can an X-ray of the head and neck after a carwreck pick up carotid blockages?

No: A plain x-ray may show calcification but it will not be able quantify stenosis in the carotid artery. A ct angiogram on the other hand will definitely be able to see "blockages". Other common test to evaluate the carotid arteries are ultrasonography (carotid duplex). ...Read more

Dentists compare dental x-Ray radiation with radiation you get everyday. Problem is that dental radiation is concentrated to your head.........

No comparison: Dental x-rays do concentrate in the area the beam is pointed, that is true. However the damaging effects of radiation are cumulative. Spending a day at the beach will expose you to more radiation over a larger area of your body than having dental x-rays once a year. A lead apron with a thyroid collar is also used to protect your body when taking dental x-rays. As the cliche goes, apples to oranges ...Read more

X-ray bilateral feet a tiny calcification is present adjacent to the lateral aspect of the 4th metatarsal head, and a small left plantar calcaneal spur. No other abnormality. Could you please tell me what this all mean. Thank you so much.?

Typical findings.: It describes an accessory bone near the metatarsal head, which is almost always of little consequence. The small plantar spur that is found in many patients and may or may not ever be of consequence. The issue is whether or not these symptoms are somehow linked to any symptoms. It would be interesting to know why the x-ray was taken in the first place. ...Read more

Radiation dose chart: We only want to take the minimum number and type of x-rays or scans in order to properly diagnose and treatment plan. Without that we might either miss something or the final result might be compromised. Here is a good website for you to look at: http://www. Ans. Org/pi/resources/dosechart/. ...Read more

Poss neck disk: When you get pain in the back of your shoulder blade and it radiates up your neck, think of a herniated disk in your neck. Everytime I swallow my neck contracts one side and gets stiff last few months. ENT normal. Head is even and X-ray cervical normal. Can it be dystonia?

Possibly: I assume by "ENT normal" you have been evaluated by an ENT with a full head & neck exam and fiberoptic laryngoscopy? A barium esophagram may also be helpful given the association with swallowing. Assuming all normal, I would see a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. Botox injections can be helpful in cervical dystonia. Deep brain stimulation is also showing promise in severe cases. ...Read more

Knocked into stone column then fell to ground. Caused laceration on back of head, 3 staples. Is an X-ray sufficient to rule out internal bleeding?

Fainting in dec, hitting my head. Been experiencing headaches, dizziness, fatigue and chest pains since. X-ray ruled out any head injury so what next?

Why did u faint?: First thing is to find out why you fainted. Your symptoms may be related to the underlying problem rather than the fall. A neurologist should see you for a full eval. A holter echo and tilt table test may be helpful as well. ...Read more

Blood in sputum, have done head, neck test, done x-ray, my doctor said it may be result of tear of capillarie at base of the tongue. He prescribed mouth w?

Blood in Sputum: May be hard to find source, as bleeding is not constant. Three sources: upper airway, lower airway, and digestive. A complete upper airway endoscopy can be performed by an ENT to look for upper sources. But, it may be "normal" between episodes. My routine:
chest x-ray, upper airway endoscopy, and depending upon risk factors, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (look into esophagus and stomach). See an ent. ...Read more

I've had a ct scan of my head and a MRI of my neck and head. They were fine. Also had a X-ray of my c spine and it showed a possible deformity. Symptoms are getting worst, can barely walk now. Very off balance. Life threatening?

Second opinion: Not normal, and so it very much comes down to specific diagnosis. Some conditions are easily senn in structural studies such as an MRI or ct scan, but some are not seen on tests like that. ALS is one example. Make sure you are seeing a neurologist and consider a second opinion if there is not any progress toward a diagnosis made. ...Read more

Neck X-ray normal. Neck pain that hurts my head and in my ears. No ear infection. What could be issue?

Probably jaw joint: It sounds as if your jaw joint is having some problems. Do you clench or grind your teeth? Do you like chewy and crunchy foods? Do you chew gum? If so, you need to go on a soft diet, take anti-inflammatories as needed and use ice on the areas that bothers you 3 to 4 times a day for 20 minutes at a time. I did head ct scan 10 years ago and thoracic spine mri 1.5 years ago And a chest X-ray 6 months ago I'm worry about the amount of radiations?

Minimal: MRI does not use x-ray radiation, but instead uses a magnetic field. A single chest x-ray is very minimal. A CT scan of the head will give you about 20 times as much radiation as a chest x-ray, but this is still felt to be less than the background radiation you receive in 1 year just from being outdoors. It's good for you to limit your radiation exposure, but yours is minimal, I wouldn't worry ...Read more

Should I worry about cancer if I had a single head ct scan 8 years ago, kidney Xray 5 years ago, spine Xray and mri 1year ago chest X-ray 1 month ago?

No.: These diagnostic procedures will not measurably increase your risk of cancer over your background or natural risk.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually.
