How much weight will I gain when I lose my thyroid due to surgery?

How much weight will I gain when I lose my thyroid due to surgery?

If the dose is correct, there should be no change in your thyroid level and thus no effect in weight loss/gain. A blood test 2-3 months after starting thyroid replacement will tell you if the dose chosen was the correct dose. ...Read more

Hashimoto thyroidism, HGH bld pressure vitamin d sufficient, excess weight gain, feel tired all the time, would amphetamine boost my energy?

Yes, but: It would be potentially dangerous and possibly illegal depending upon the source of the amphetamines. Why put something in your body that is harmful and can potentially kill you? Also get off the armour thyroid, which is ground up pig tissue and have your doctor put you on brand name T4 replacement, which is better and safer. ...Read more

Hi my TSH 3rd generation result is 100. I have always been overweight and have recently gained a little bit of weight. Have irregular periods and recently there has been issue of constipation.

I'm not sure what: ..units are being used to measure your TSH level, but 100??? In the USA, the standard value that labs use to measure TSH is microunits/ml and normal values range from 0.4 to 4.0 microunits/ml. If you're TSH is 100 mcu/ml, then definitely something's wrong with your thyroid or the hormones regulating it. This test result requires follow up and either clarification or treatment. ...Read more

How much does thyroid surgery cost? Both sides.

How much does thyroid surgery cost? Both sides.

Hard to say: One can get estimates by asking around. There are doctor's bills for office visits, the actual surgery, and hospital visits if he charges separately for hospital care days (presuming one has to stay in the hospital). Hospital bills are hard to predict, and there are separate bills for lots of different items such as labs, meds, x-rays, etc... And also anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists. ...Read more

I am scheduled for a thyroid lobectomy surgery. I need to know how to prepare?

I am scheduled for a thyroid lobectomy surgery. I need to know how to prepare?

Not much: Follow the directions from your surgeon. You would likely need to have recent blood tests before surgery. Usually the only "preparation" is having nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before the surgery. Some surgeons recommend an antiseptic bath or shower the night before surgery too, but that depends on your surgeon. ...Read more
