Ht, wt: By the numbers you are already at 96%ile for height and 61%ile by wt with a normal BMI. You shouldn't try to loose any weight but instead concentrate on gaining some.

Yes: Dietary change is considerably more important than exercise for weight loss. Exercise of course helps general wellbeing but isn't necessary here. For healthy, sustainable weight loss you should target about 10% reduction in your total weight over a 6-12 month period. Make enjoyable dietary changes that you can continue lifelong, not difficult changes that you can't keep up. Good luck!

For: For your height a healthy weight is about 140-145, therefore you probably need to lose about 10-15 pounds. A healthy way to lose weight is by adopting a healthy lifestyle. This would include exercise for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week, more if possible. Weight training is key. Also a healthy diet. Eats six small meals a day. Your plate should be half veggies (green if possible) 1/4 lean meat, and 1/4 whole grains (i.E brown rice). If you need additional help or a plan to follow, request a visit with a nutritionist; your pediatrician or family doctor can refer you. Good luck.

Just under 1 lb: This is also assuming that you continue your program of very vigorous exercise. I'm a ringside physician myself. Don't do this often, and especially don't get dehydrated.

Examples include carrots, celery, and leafy green lettuce (little/no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy them no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar ; simple starch calories.

I'm worried about u: You are already very underweight and that is not healthy. Your body mass index is only 18. Normal is 20-25. Are you a dancer or model or just think you are not thin enough? People obsessed with losing weight even though they are underweight may have anorexia nervosa. This needs medical attention to correct the distorted body image and prevent complications like bone loss.

See details: The best way is diet and exercise. The exercise should be both aerobic and strength training. The diet should try to minimize carbohydrates (no bread, pasta, cheese, sodas, etc). You must not snack between meals and most control portion size.

Body image: BMI < 16 = underweight. An underweight person who believes he/she needs to lose weight when others disagree may have a distorted body image (eg: anorexia nervosa). Further weight loss can be very unhealthy. It is possible to mistake poor muscle tone for excess fat, in which case exercise and gain in weight through muscle is healthy. It is very worthwhile discussing with primary care physician.

Estimate that by using 105 pounds for a 60-inch (5-foot) woman, and add 5 pounds for every extra inch in height (105+30=135). Take the next 2 years to lose 2 pounds per month, by eating LESS. Exercise is good too. Avoid sugar. Avoid simple carbs. No sugared drinks. Eat LESS. Two pounds a month for 2 years is 48 pounds of weight loss.
