Unlikely, but. . .: Prior to colonoscopy, one has to drink lots of icky fluids to clean out bowel. As a result, one usually loses weight. OTOH 3# weight gain in one day could be from bloating unrelated to procedure. Or more likely, use of different scales at different times of day in different amounts of clothing. Hard to know: The colon is part of your intestine so I'm not sure what your son was really told. I suspect that he was told he has a malrotation (though this is difficult to tell from colonoscopy).
