I am 36 weeks and 4 days today and have a schd sono appt tomorrow to weigh baby. Can i request to get induced anytime after i hit my 37 wk mark?

Not recommended: The current recommendation is to avoid elective induction less than 39 weeks. There is significant data to support the fact that 39 week babies do better than 37 week babies (i.e. Nicu admissions). Thus, unless there are medical indications it is not recommended to be induced at 37weeks. ...Read more

I was want to know if my fetus weighed 4lbs 3oz at 33 weeks 3 days, what should he weigh at 36 weeks 3 days?

I was want to know if my fetus weighed 4lbs 3oz at 33 weeks 3 days, what should he weigh at 36 weeks 3 days?

Just an estimate: Keep in mind that the estimated fetal weight (efw) on a third trimester ultrasound is just an estimate with a margin of error. Also, fetal weight gain is variable depending on many factors. In general, it is estimated that a fetus is gaining about 1/2 a pound per week at this stage of pregnancy. That would put your fetus at about 5 lbs 11 oz at 36 wks 3 days based on your previous efw. ...Read more

If a patient wanted to be induced early to avoid a difficult delivery of a large infant, how unusual will it be to induce at less than 36 weeks?

If a patient wanted to be induced early to avoid a difficult delivery of a large infant, how unusual will it be to induce at less than 36 weeks?

Extremely: No doctor should consider this based on current guidelines. You should be evaluated for causes of a large infant. Elective delivery should not be performed prior to 39 weeks. Estimated size is not an appropriate indication for early delivery due to the inaccuracy inherent in estimating fetal weight. Size may be considered when deciding the route of delivery. ...Read more

Heart beat accelerat: When the baby moves at this point of the pregnancy, the heart rate goes up. This is called an acceleration and is a good thing. It should settle back down soon afterwards to the normal range. If it stays elevated and you are having pain or fever, you should contact your OB right away. ...Read more

Define OK ??: If your question is primarily that of survival, outlook is good. However, at 36 wks there is a 50% risk of premature lung disease, more for male infants than female.Successful treatment is the usual outcome at this stage, but the longer you can stay pregnant, the better your chances of avoiding neonatal intensive care for the babies. ...Read more

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and feel vibrations/twitches in my stomach. Is this normal? Do babies have seizures inutero??

Likely hiccups: Some have speculated that the close position of the babies stomach to the diaphragm causes a rubbing that triggers the hiccups. This is common & generally continues on through the first months after birth. Once the child grows longer & the stomach can drop away from the diaphragm the frequency declines. It bothers mom's more than the baby. Not a seizure! ...Read more

How much do babies usually weigh when they are born?

How much do babies usually weigh when they are born?

Depends: this depends on the gestational age of the baby at the time of birth (how many weeks was the pregnancy). Babies who are born full term can vary in weight. The growth chart available from the cdc can be found here: http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/data/set1clinical/cj41l017.pdf ...Read more
