Simple measures: You can help baby go by coating a q-tip with vasaline & inserting it the length of the cotton & moving it in a circle. If there's poo to go it should come out. There are otc babylax suppositories that work the same way. For longer term an ounce of full strength apple or prune juice 1-2x/d will losten baby within 3 days. ...Read more

Adequate weight gain as monitored routinely by your pediatrician is a good sign that this is not a significant issue. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a 3 week old baby and I breast feed and do formula , he be fuzzy and getting red from his face and he didn't poop yesterday or today is it norm?
Hard or pellet-like: stools are a sign of constipation. If an infant of 6wks. or younger strains to pass soft stool, it can be normal. The smooth muscle of the intestines is not yet coordinated to propel its contents, so they may draw up their legs, grunt, turn red in the face & use voluntary abdominal muscles to assist. Solely breast-fed babies hardly ever have hard stools; adding formula can make them harder. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
