How Much Should A 2 Year Old Weigh
Whats the correct dosage for amoxicillin and how much a day for my 3 1/2 year old..weighing 37 pounds. She has strep.
Rx'd by physician?: Was the strep throat formally diagnosed by a physician? Strep should be diagnosed by a physician via a rapid test or culture, you don't want to treat with antibiotics for a viral pharyngitis. The physician would have prescribed the amoxicillin in the dosage that is correct. As a general rule, it is 40 mg/kg per day divided into 2-3 doses for a strep infection. Depends on Height: Your son's ideal weight all depends on how tall he is. Remember also, that there is a ton of variability for what normal is at any age. I have a two year old son who weighs 26 lbs. He has a cough that keeps him from falling asleep. Is there cough medicine i could give him and how much?
Honey or codeine.: We prefer not to give cough suppressants to children that young. Often a teaspoon of honey will soothe the throat so that the cough is better. If the cough occurs hours after the child is asleep and especially if it is so severe that it induces vomiting then i would be concerned about cough variant asthma and would have the child checked by your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My two year old found and ate a bit of a choco laxitive will she be ok ? She weighs about 26lbs and doesn't have a problem going to the bathroom she is asleep and seems fine but im very worried
Anytime : Anytime a child eats or drinks something they should not have such as a medication, cleaner, or non-food item, it's a good idea to place a call to the poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. They have the most up-to-date information and in fact are one of the resources emergency room doctors use when a child comes in sick because of something non-food related they ate. They can often tell you whether you need to worry or not and what to do. The good news is that odds are, your child will just have loose stools for a day or two, but it's worth placing the call since it's better to be safe than sorry. Yet, somehow, physiological automation has helped and guarded us to adopt and adapt to how we live well. So, likely, she will be just fine; but for sure, as you have done, just adjust down the amount and diversify the kinds of foods she may consume, in moderation. More?
