How Much Protein Should My 9 Month Old Be Getting From Solids
Not enough to count: A 9 month-old baby still gets most of his nutrition from breastmilk or formula. The baby foods and mashed up adult foods supply some extra calories, some of which is protein, but it's not worth counting the grams. The baby should try different flavors for fun, but he doesn't need to think of solid foods as a very important part of his diet until after his first birthday. ...Read more
My baby girl is 3 months old. How much formula should she be consuming & how much sleep should she be getting in a 24 hr period?
Depends: Your baby's weight and frequency of feeding as well as the weight percentile on the growth curve determine how much he/she should eat. A premature infant may have a more rapid rate of growth, and consequently a proportionally higher volume. Average babes should eat every 3-4 hrs, and be allowed to stop when they are full-not necessarily when bottle is empty. Sleep goal-about 13-16 hrs/day. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 2 month old breast milk fed baby spits up a lot. How much is too much and when should I be concerned about it?
Is baby growing ?: If baby is happy more or less and ready to refeed after sptting it is likely simple reflux. As long as baby wets diapers every 6 hours and is growing, i don't get very concerned. The spitting can increase and peak around 4 mo as baby becomes more active. If baby doesn't wet but every 8hrs or more, you need to have it evaluated. ...Read more
He decides: Babies are good about knowing how much their tummies can hold. You need to tune into his cues as to when he is full: turns head away from spoon, spits the food out, refuses to open his mouth, etc. As long as he is sitting there wiling to eat, you can offer the food to him. As he eats more solids he will correspondingly drink less milk, generally maintaining the same number of calories in a day. ...Read more

Dear Dr my baby is 9 months old eating solid foods still nursing him can i pump out milk and give him.Baby date of birth is 24th feb 2014?
Yes: Pumped breast milk will be fine. It is not quite as convenient but has the same nutrition. Pumping is not as good as sucking at stimulating breast milk. He may not want to take it from a bottle but maybe a cup if he is used to your nipple. All the best and congratulations on wanting to continue breast feeding! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3 month old spits tha majority if her for?La out or lets it run down her chin . How can I be sure shes getting enough to eat ?
Measure her growth: Many babies spit a small amount of formula. If she is letting it run down her chin she is telling you she is full. Continue to feed as usual and have your doctor measure the growth at her 4 month check up. You don' t need to worry unless it is causing coughing, fussiness or poor growth. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
1mth. Old supposed to feed 3/4 ounces a feeding due to spit up a lot when was getting 5 ounces. Screams after 1hr. Of being fed now. What should I do?
My daughter just turned one year old should I stop the formula and shift to regular whole milk? And how much milk should she be drinking per day(ml)?
Milk: It is recommended to switch to whole milk at one year. The recommended amount is 2 cups a day (to provide adequate vitamin d) but not much more. When kids are "milkaholics" they actually can become iron deficient. I'd shoot for 2 cups (16oz) per day and stop there. (in a cup - get rid of the bottles too.). ...Read more

My baby is 9 months old and has just started to drip milk from her nose as she feeds from my breast. Should I be concerned?
Can be normal: Nasal regurgitation of milk can be a normal process, especially in infants. It is seen in forceful ejection of milk from stomach, like in reflux. Results in mostly some nasal congestion and noisy breathing. Some conditions associated or predisposing to it are 1) overfeeding 2)Prematurity 3)GERD 4) Low tone in esophagus of hypotonic babies 5) Submucous / total cleft in palate or roof of mouth. ...Read more
