How Much Penicillin Can I Take For Toothache
Penicillin is good: If you have a dental abscess or swollen infected tissue. It will take a day or so to work it may stop the pain for a day or up to a week, but unless you get a dental treatment the problem will keep reoccurring, sometimes each time worst than the first. Remember, toothache pain will not go away on its own and dental treatment is a must. ...Read more
I'm trying to see if I take a penicillin prescription will it make my toothache worse I don't have an access yet but imy thinking its a gum infection?
Your toothache is caused by an infection in your tooth where the medication can't reach it.
You need to see a dentist right away or the pain will get worse. ...Read more
Yes...but: If you have a severe toothache, any antibiotic will help...Provided you are getting a strong enough dosage. But this will only limit the time the tooth may bother you. You need to get the toothe fixed (root canal, filling or?) or get the tooth removed. If you don't and that infection returns. It will come back with greater pain and more bone destruction is quite possible. ...Read more
Possibly: You don't know if you have an infection, do you? Taking antibiotics when you don't have an infection is totally useless, and taking antibiotics if you do have a dental infection will not fix the tooth. You still need to see a dentist for care, so the sooner you call the sooner you will feel better.. ...Read more
Why did my chin & cheek become swollen & in pain 2 days after I started taking penicillin & loratab for a toothache? How long will it last?
Progressing infectio: Sounds like a possible tooth infection. These progress rapidly and often oral antibiotics cannot work quickly enough to reverse its course. Go see and endodontist or skilled general dentist and have the causing tooth treated. ...Read more
Is it normal to not be able to hold down any food after taking penicillin vk 500mg? I keep vomiting and can't eat. I was prescribed it for a severe toothache.
Typically it is recommended that you take antibiotics after eating. Taking the medication on an empty stomach is an invitation to an upset stomach especially if it mixes with the acid in your stomach. Try eating something a half hour prior to taking the medication. If this continues discuss it with your dentist to see if they can change to another antibiotic.
Are you taking pain medications at the same time? If so that is an additional reason that you are experiencing GI upset.
One additional note, this is probably not an allergy as is typically thought by patients. ...Read more
I need a prescription for a non-penicillin antibiotic for a toothache until I can see a dentist. I'm also seeking a prescription for Belviq (lorcaserin).
Misguided: Pills do not cure everything, and more often than not are not the best way to to resolve issues long term. Consider seeing a dentist for your dental problem and if the Belviq (lorcaserin) is for weight loss, more exercise and less calories along with seeing a physician if other related issues. Antibiotics for most toothaches are worthless. Set up some appointments asap. ...Read more

Went to Er for face swelling n tooth pain took 5 penicillin vk should the swelling be going down should I use ice or heat for swelling n salt water?
Great expectations: Antibiotics will not cure an abscess, just control the infection until it can actually be physically treated (root canal/crown or extraction/implant/crown). Facial swelling means infection is already swelling. If you are taking penicillin 4x/day it may take 48-72 hours for swelling to begin to go down. Do NOT stop taking PCN prematurely. Unless you see Dentist infection will return. Go now. ...Read more
Took 2 penicillin vk for tooth pain n face swelling but today face is more swollen in panic should it go down already with 2 pills afraid eye swell?
Worry: Swelling means infection is spreading. A full course of antibiotics, taken at appropriate intervals for a full 5 days, will help reduce chance of infection spread. To cure the infection mandates removal of infected tooth material (root canal or extraction). Please don't self medicate...see a Dentist yesterday rather than tomorrow. ...Read more
What happens if I take penicilin and naproxen together? I have a toothache and I was perscribed naproxen and penicilin, now my jaw is swelled up
Ask for Referral: Naproxien and penicillin don't have any adverse reactions when taken together. It is more likely that the swelling in your jaw is due to a tooth abscess. Often, general dentists will prescribe antibioticsw whenever there is a necrosis or abscess of the pulp of a tooth as an immediate solution to an emergency situation. However, the tooth needs to be opened, drained otherwise the situation worsens. ...Read more
You shouldn't: But it has nothing to do with penicillin allergy. The two drugs are totally unrelated, but mdma is a dangerous drug in kids, even more so in a 39 year old, who should of given up that kind of nonsense long ago. Many mdma pills are not pure, and may contain other related chemicals, some of which are even more dangerous than the ecstacy itself. Molly, a particular brand of mdma has caused deaths. ...Read more
Likely, not certain: The majority of people who are told they are allergic to penicillin are not actually so (they get rashes for other reasons, e.g.). Of those that are allergic, about 70% or more will lose the allergy after about 10 years. If you are still allergic, there is about a 10% chance of cross-reaction to 1st-gen cephalosporins like keflex. An allergist can perform testing to judge your risk for a reaction. ...Read more
Maybe: Penicillins (like amoxil) & cephalosporins (like keflex) are both beta-lactam antibiotics named because of their ringed chemical structure. Allergy to penicillins is sometimes directed against this ring, and an allergic reaction may also occur if a similar antibiotic is taken. It is estimated that about 10% of penicillin-allergic patients are also allergic to cephalosporins like keflex. ...Read more
If you are allergic to penicillin, are you also allergic to amoxycillin? I remember taking the pink liquid amoxycillin as a child but could not take penicillin. Can I take amoxycillin pills?
Skin: Skin testing to penicillin is again available via penicillin g and prepen. This testing can be useful in answering your question. I would recommend you check with your local allergist to see if they offer penicillin skin testing. ...Read more
