Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to significantly reduce sudden cardiac death. Some studies also indicate the potential for benefits in dementia and risk of heart attack. Fish oil: Other doctors may have different opinions. I feel that there is fairly good evidence that fish oil can lower the risk of certain kinds of heart events; it is also an anti-inflammatory supplement good for chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Finally, there are several studies that show that people who take health supplements (regardless of which kind) are healthier than people who do not. ...Read more

I've been taking fish oil for about 6 mos 3 to 4g daily and tappered off now n then. recently i''ve seen oil in my urine n it smells like fiish oil?

Fish Oil: It certainly could be trace amounts of omega -3 in the urine. It doesn't take much to smell "fishy". The benefits of taking fish oil are less clear than they used to be. I would recommend that you check with your doctor to see if fish oil is right for you. If it is right, I would purchase the highest grade, highly purified brand that is either of Icelandic or Norwegian origin. ...Read more

Biotin , zinc , B12 and fish oil take daily is that ok ?

Yes: Biotin, zinc, B12 and omega 3 fatty acids (found in fish oil) are all essential nutrients and perfectly safe to take daily. I would avoid taking more than 40 mg a day of zinc long-term unless you have a condition like pyrroluria which creates a need for more. Some brands of fish oil are much better than others- my favorites are nordic naturals ; omegavail by designs for health. ...Read more

Can I take garlic 1000mg, B12 1000 mcg, magnesium 400mg, zinc 50 mg and fish oil 500 mg daily? should I space them out during the day?

Talk to your doctor: first if you are taking zinc as there's an upper limit you can take per day, (and it has to be balanced with copper too.) Both needed in trace amounts. So this may be safer in a multivitamin formulation unless you are specifically low dietarily in these supplements. B12 is taken sublingually for maximum benefit taken separately. Garlic and fish oil can be taken together. Call your doctor first! ...Read more

I have been taking 1000mg fish oil as well as flax or chia daily for years. Is this safe? Ends up being around 2000mg or so total omega 3. Too much?

Omega 3:6 ratio: Most people do not get enough omega 3 in their diet and get too much omega 6. As to whether or not fish oil in combination with other plant sources of omega3 is too much depends on the context of a persons diet overall. Excess fish oil can have a blood thinning effect as well. This that also needs to be considered in the context of ones medical history. ...Read more
