How Much Fiber In Prune Juice
How long?: Prune juice is a New Orleans remedy, that also when I can't find a stomach doctor, to assist my patient. I always thought 6 to 8 oz, to be enough. The reason I am answering this question without knowing the answer is, Many a times I had to beg, with folded hands to my patients not to report me to Licensing Board because C got to D. In California, there are other exotic treatments. See your MD. ...Read more

May or may not help: Prunes/juice can help, but it does not work for everyone. I have never seen or heard of prune-overdose, so enjoy as many as you wish. If not better in 2-3 days, try miralax, (polyethylene glycol) fibercon, senokot-s, colace, Metamucil etc... For quicker relief, enema may help. Occasional use of milk-of-magnesia or mag-citrate for really-backed-up cases. If persistent, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
Yes: If you are not consuming food with fibre with most of your calories from the juice, the answer is yet. On the other hand, if you are 114 years old, you are certainly more prone to have constipation even with the proper diet. Really bad constipation! doc said miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily, can I try miralax (polyethylene glycol) mixed in prune juice for better results since prune juice didn't help by itself?
Yes, however...: It is wise to treat constipation and MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) may help; it is safe to take with prune juice. But this does not address the cause; eat more fiber, drink more water, exercise, try probiotics, get tested for hypothyroidism. It works well: I don't know if prune juice has been compared "head to head" with other laxatives, but it works well. One time i prescribed 2 ounces / day for a patient that was constipated, and within a week the nursing home called back and asked if i could reduce the dose because it was working too well. Now, it doesn't always work, but it surely is a simple thing to try. ...Read more
