Cranberry Juice (Definition)

Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) has been used as both a food and a medicine for centuries. It is native to North America and was used by Native Americans to treat bladder and kidney diseases. Early settlers from England learned to use the berry both raw and cooked for many ailments, including appetite loss, stomach problems, blood disorders, and scurvy, caused by not getting enough vitamin C. Cranberry is best known for preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs), commonly caused by bacteria known as Escherichia coli (E. coli). At first, scientists thought cranberry worked by making urine acidic enough to kill the bacteria. Now, studies show that cranberry actually prevents bacteria from attaching to the walls of the urinary tract. Strong scientific studies support using cranberry, either in capsules or as juice, for preventing -- though ...Read more

Likely no: Is this an old problem ie. known in your medical history, or are you having acute flank pain/blood in your urine/ difficulty urinating / fevers right now?

I was told that I can drink cranberry juice without sugar to clean out my kidney if so how much?

No need to use.: Water does the same thing. Cranberry juice doesn't clean out your kidney any better than any other juice. There is still some banter and common use of cranberry juice for preventing or treating uti, but evidence for this is weak. As best I can see there is no benefit to juicing and there is certainly no need to use kidney cleaner. ...Read more

Isn't drinking cranberry juice to prevent urinary tract infection an old wives' tale?

Isn't drinking cranberry juice to prevent urinary tract infection an old wives' tale?

Not a myth: Cranberries contain a chemical, proanthocyanidin, which interferes with the ability of bacteria, especially e. Coli (most common species of bacteria to cause urinary tract infections) from adhering to the bladder lining. Bacteria are thus flushed out urination and are unlikely to cause an uti. Excellent research article published in new england journal of medicine 3 or 4 years ago proving this. ...Read more

Bubbles: Foamy or bubbly urine is usually a sign of some protein in urine or a change in the PH of your urine (the vinegar and lemon juice).
