How Might Zinc Work Against A Parasite Infection
Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more
Is it better to start with a OTC yeast infection cream for a yeast infection caused from antibiotics or can a probiotic like acidophilus be effective?
I have become prone to fungal & viral infection. Can you suggest which type of immunity test should be done to check immunity strength like igg1, etc.
See Immunologist: As a generality, T-cell dysfunction (and not B-cell or lack of antibody production) could potentially lead to susceptibility for viral and fungal infections. One might start by checking lymphocyte subpopulations and T-cell function as an initial work-up. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Bacterial infections usually require antibiotic treatment with a drug to which the bacteria is susceptible. Some antibiotics will work for some bacteria but not others. Most bacteria are sensitive to a number of different antibiotics. Microbiology labs do sensitivity testing to inform the doctor as to which antibiotics will be effective. ...Read more
Can multip infect.from a sinus infect to a yeast infect.to a Garden Spiderbite infect cause your liver enzymes to go high bc I don't want a liver biop?
Elevated LFT's: Not sure multiple infections can cause elevated LFT's however, the antibiotics used to treat the infections may cause transient elevations as the medications may interfer with normal liver metabolism. Normally we don't worry until the LFT's are 2X upper limit of normal. I would wait 6 weeks off all medications (except chronic ones) and repeat the tests before worrying. Good Luck ...Read more

Aside, from weaken immune system and/or taking oral antibiotics, what else can cause a yeast infection while in your period?
Is there anything I can take to prevent yeast infections? I am going to be on strong antibiotics for Lyme & 2 co-einfections for a long time.
Get a 2nd opinion: The best way to prevent yeast infection is to avoid unnecessary antibiotics. Proper treatment of lyme disease & other tick borne infections can usually be achieved in about 2-3 weeks - if treatment is prescribed >4 weeks consider a 2nd opinion with another expert (it never hurts to ask). Alert your doctor of any new symptoms of yeast asap rather than take a preventive antifungal for yeast. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can a yeast infection develop into something else like vaginosis or trich? I've a yeast infection for a while and want to know what could happen if not treated
A : A yeast infection will likely go away on it's own if left untreated, but may not. It can lead to chronic discharge and itching, and a lot of unnecessary discomfort. The yeast will not develop into a bacterial vaginosis, however you can develop a secondary bacterial infection, meaning both yeast and bacteria are present at the same time. Also, yeast can not develop into trichomoniasis. This is an std (sexually transmitted disease) and requires treatment. Is there a reason why you are not treating your yeast infection? Are you sure it's yeast? Have you seen your doctor? If not i recommend you make an appointment for a proper exam, diagnosis, and treatment, especially if you are concerned about std's. Good luck. ...Read more

Can flagyl med be taken every year as a preventive measure from any intestinal bacterial infection?
What dosage do you recommend if podofilox is taken ? And is leflox a good antibiotic to fight such bacteria ? And lastly can the warts spread all over
Genital warts?: Podofilox is simply applied to warts, usually without other consideration of the dose. Sometimes daily, other times only 2-3 times a week; follow the instructions on your prescription or that you received from your doctor or clinic. Levofloxacin has no effect on warts or HPV, the virus that causes them. Warts almost never "spread all over". Clarify any further question with your doctor. ...Read more
Can I take culterelle probiotic while on prednisone? Will I be more likely to get an infection because weakened immune system?
Yes to both.: Can take probiotic while on prednisone. Will not make you more ill. It is questionable if helps the immune system. It may help prevent an antibiotic associated diarrhea. It depends how long you are on the prednisone. If it is long term then you can develop a weakened immune system. Hi, doctor, what may be antibiotics that can clean your immune system as a result of another overdosed drug/antibiotics?
No treatment needed: If you are ill following antibiotics -- e.g. certain kinds of severe diarrhea -- follow your doctor's advice about treatment. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Even after large doses of antibiotics, or an overdose, the immune system is not harmed. Other effects, such as your body's normal bacteria being resistant to some antibiotics, will take care of themselves over a few weeks. No worries. ...Read more
