I had my TSH level checked as I am showing signs of being hypo. The result was 2.69 which appears to be on the high end of normal. Is this borderline?
TSH: 2.69 would be considered normal by most lab references. In my lab the upper limit is 4.2. Talk to your doctor about the results. Good luck! ...Read more

May re do the test: A TSH level of 6.03 suggests thyroid deficiency, however it would help get free T4 level done and may be TSH re done to make sure the result is accurate. It is not an emergency, but you should keep your appointments with your doctor and follow his/her advice. ...Read more
I'm 32 years old female. Recently i checked my thyroid and found my TSH level as 57.6 and t3, (liothyronine) T4 are normal. Please suggest.
Hypothyroidism: That TSH level is very high, consistent with hypothyroidism. It is unclear why the t3 (liothyronine) and T4 are normal with such a high tsh, so the levels should be repeated to ensure there is no lab error, and add a free t3 (liothyronine) and a free T4 to the tests, and consider adding thyroid antibodies to determine autoimmune thyroid condition. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Low thyroid: Although most thyroid disease is caused by an autoimmune disorder, some people's thyroid may just not be functioning well. It may be a good idea to consult an endocrinologist as well. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I think I have hypothyroidism, but my doctor will only do a TSH level test and he says that it is normal. Aren't there other tests that can be done?
TSH is: usually adequate, however, there are patients with technically "normal" tsh's that aren't in an "appropriate" range for age. On some of those, a clinical trial of BRAND NAME T4 replacement may sometimes be attempted, but you need to have defined guidelines before initiating replacement. Make sure your free T4 has also been checked, If you have questions, see an endocrinologist. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
TSH: Depending on your symptoms, other thyroid labs, and whether you're being treated for a thyroid problem, normal TSH range is 0.4 - 4.0 miu/l (milli-international units per liter). If being treated the range is usually tighter, between 0.5 and 2.0 miu/l. Treatment decisions need more data than TSH alone, though. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
