How fed ????: A breast fed infant may stool a bit every feeding or an overflow diaper once a week. If it is soft it is not constipation. If formula fed, the pattern is more likely to be a few daily or at least every other day. If stools are soft & baby feeds well & plays, there is no reason to be concerned. Stop the rice: Stop adding rice cereal to the pumped milk (good job on breast feeding, by the way!). Keep breast feeding and keep the zantac (ranitidine). Depends on situation: If baby is breast fed they may stool a little smear every feeding or one big crib full once a week. Breast milk is so well digested that it may not leave much behind for poo. What is constipation: In a one month breast fed baby no poop for a few days is normal as long as the poop in not hard. Babies in the first month or so have frequents pooh so this change to less frequent pooh causes much worry but is normal regardless on apparent straining.
