How Many Surgeries Will It Take To Fix A Club Foot
I will soon be having surgery to stabilize my painful residual adult club foot. One part of the surgery is navicular?
At what age should club foot correction surgery be done? My son was born with a club foot, and i would like to know when is the optimal age to have the surgery performed on him.
Generally : Generally speaking, conservative management with serial casting (ponsetti) is the first line treatment. Most treatment plans with serial casting are effective and avoid the need for extensive surgical correction. Some patients require small surgeries such as an achilles lengthening with the casting treatment. If this fails, surgical correction can be performed. Most surgeons would like to have a plantigrade (corrected) foot by the time the child begins to walk-(around 12 months of age). For those that do not respond to serial casting( ponsetti) surgical correction should be performed between 6-9 months of age. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have had 2 surgeries to fix my club foot when i was born in 1985, but not it is giving me a lot of trouble. What can I do?
Multiple factors: Congenital club foot ccf can occur as an isolated event or as part of a syndrome. Current thinking includes the influence of an autosomal dominent gene which is expressed ~33% , making it possible to skip generations without an affected carrier. Incidence 11/10000 (iowa)m>f, increased if mother smokes in pregnancy.See http://www.Omim.Org/entry/119800. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
