When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Baby girl born yesterday 6pound and 12 inch head circumference. Is her head fine I was told during pregnancy that she might have microcephaly?
Head measures small: Her weight is right around the 5th percentile for a newborn but her head is well below the 3rd percentile. The first head measurement after birth is difficult to rely on as there are things like "molding" (shape changes) from passing through the birth canal to consider. This info has to be put into context with the help of your pediatrician. They are there to assist you, don't hesitate to ask quest ...Read more
Probably: I have historically counseled all my pregnant patients to avoid all extraneous "products"/"chemicals" during their pregnancy. Even though hair relaxers are applied topically; they are absorbed through your scalp and the make-up of the products is the unknown. Some might argue differently but I always err on the side of caution; better to avoid in the short term than risk long term problems. ...Read more

Most hair dyes contain toxic ingredients, some of which are carcinogenic. I'd avoid all in the 1st trimester. If you REALLY need to dye your hair after 1st trimester you can try to find a nontoxic choice but they're all toxic to some degree so if you want to have a healthy baby please wait. If you coloured your hair and your baby had problems how would you feel?

Scalp hair appears thicker or denser during gestation due to slowing of the normal progression of hairs from anagen (the'growing' stage)to telogen (the 'resting' stage), thereby creating a relative increase in anagen hair
1 to 5 months postpartum, however, the percentage of telogen hairs occurs and hair loss is noted. ...Read more

Sure: It is generally thought that using topical agents on the skin is safer than using medications by mouth. Electrolysis: I'll be very frank with you.. . **i** don't feel it is safe for anyone. Certainly not it pregnancy, where two people are involved and one cannot yet make the decision, but even non-gravid women should know that it's almost a worthless pursuit -- it really doesn't work very well, and the risks of scarring, infections, and so forth are really significant. I don't recommend it! ...Read more
