See your doctor: Eric, this sounds like gastritis, or stomach inflammation. It usually gets worse after you eat. See your doctor. They can prescribe medications. If they feel a scope is needed, don't worry. They aren't nearly as bad as you think they will be. Hope this helps! Read more

Clear liquids only: You need your bowel free of any residue which means not eating any regular food for 24 hours before the colonoscopy. You can only have clear liquids which includes sodas, water, Tea/coffee (black only) pulp-free juices and jello, but stopping everything 4 hours before the procedure. Read more

Yes: colonoscopy is there to examine the colon, one that has been cleaned out by oral meds such as GoLYTLY. This usually cleans out most of the bowel but more proximally in the rt. Colon and distal small bowel residual food products persist. Eating a sandwhich and having a bowel movement 10 hrs later especially if multiple doesn't represent the digested sandwich but the residual content after prep. Read more

No: No, when they tell you nothing by mouth for your procedure, they mean nothing. If you expect to get sedation for your procedure then your stomach needs to be as empty as possible. Otherwise there is a risk of vomiting and aspirating which can be serious, even fatal. So NO! No Laffy Taffy or anything else. Weren't you given explicit pre procedure instructions? Read more
