Taking Citrafleet as bowel prep prior to colonoscopy. Is it ok to eat something light a few hours later since you took your first sachet before second?
Clear liquids only: You need your bowel free of any residue which means not eating any regular food for 24 hours before the colonoscopy. You can only have clear liquids which includes sodas, water, Tea/coffee (black only) pulp-free juices and jello, but stopping everything 4 hours before the procedure. Read more
Is it normal after having a colonoscopy to eat a sandwhich and have a bowel movement 10 hours later multiple times?
Yes: colonoscopy is there to examine the colon, one that has been cleaned out by oral meds such as GoLYTLY. This usually cleans out most of the bowel but more proximally in the rt. Colon and distal small bowel residual food products persist. Eating a sandwhich and having a bowel movement 10 hrs later especially if multiple doesn't represent the digested sandwich but the residual content after prep. Read more
No: No, when they tell you nothing by mouth for your procedure, they mean nothing. If you expect to get sedation for your procedure then your stomach needs to be as empty as possible. Otherwise there is a risk of vomiting and aspirating which can be serious, even fatal. So NO! No Laffy Taffy or anything else. Weren't you given explicit pre procedure instructions? Read more
Follow the instructi: Your doctor's office should give you instructions to follow in order to have a good prep. Otherwise your test will be cancelled as the preparation is rigorous and lasts 2-3 days of no solids and using laxatives to clean up your intestines completely. Read more

A light breakfast the day before, and clear liquids all day before your procedure is generally adequate. Remember though, anything you put in your face before your scope, will have to come out with the prep! Read more
Colonoscopy Prep: The prep for a colonoscopy might differ from doctor to doctor, but generally speaking most will advise that the patient eat no solid food while the preparation of the bowel is in progress. Clear fluids, however, are permitted. These include apple or cranberry juice, ginger ale, jello and clear broth. Read more
Liquids: No solid or soft foods ar allowed on the day of the prep. Any liquid that you can see through (clear liquids) is allowed--tea, black coffee, water, juces without pulp, broths, popsicles, hard candy (ie, jolly ranchers).
