How Many Diapers Should A 2 Year Old Go Through In A Day
I have a two year old boy im potty training him but he freaks out he doesn't want to take off the diaper?
Too early?: Parents are highly motivated to toilet train their children (less mess, less expense). Unfortunately, toddlers frequently are not ready as soon as the parents would like. Boys in particular are later to be ready for this training. I do not think that your son is ready for toilet training developmentally, and would recommend waiting until he is older. ...Read more
My two year old keeps getting zits on his butt. We thought it was his diapers so we changed them. But he just keeps getting them. Any advice?
See answer: Best to see his pediatrician to get a definitive diagnosis as maybe it is (especially at this hot time of the year) a type of heat rash, and a steroid cream may help, as well as keeping the area dry. It could be a contact dermatitis if his diaper is wet or full, etc. There are also a very common skin conditions such as milia that usually occur on the face, but can occur on the butt. Best wishes. ...Read more
Can a two year old have allergies to a brand of diaper? There is no rash, only sneezing and and some congestion occasionally. These are sam's club members-mark disposable diapers.
It's Possible: Only way to know is to completely eliminate the brand to a totally different and unrelated maker. Then if the rash goes away, you can always re-introduce the old brand to see if the same reaction happens. ...Read more
My two year old's penis is swollen and very red! It hurts him to pull it back and clean it. I've put diaper rash cream. No change. What else can I do?
Don't pull it back: Now requires neosporin or Bacitracin oinment. May need some oral antibiotics if it does not respond quickly. Parents should not pull back, baby's, toddlers or little boys foreskins. Foreskin was designed to protect the penile glans & not retracted early. Retraction should wait until a boy is old enough to do it himself. U may have been given incorrect advice by a circumcised dr or well-meaning nurse. ...Read more
2 year old kicks and screams every time he gets his diaper changed. Is this just a phase? He doesn't seem bothered any other time
Just being a 2 year: 2 year Olds have figured out they can sometimes get what they want through kicking and screaming, especially if they have wimpy parents. He is feeling you out right now to find out if you are wimpy. If he finds you are, then it will spread to other venues. So hold your ground here and show him who's boss. Be loving but firm, he's not going to get his way acting like that. Good luck! ...Read more

My 2 year old black son has bumps on his skin on his chest, belly, back, diaper area, and face. They don't appear to itch or hurt. Look like goosebump?
My 2 year old daughter has a bad diaper rash. But she is in underwear. How and why is this happening and what to do about it?
If she is wearing a: diaper or pull-up at night, that could cause a rash. If she is having urinary accidents in her underwear, it could do the same. If not, she may be reacting to new underwear or a soap or detergent. Please have her doctor examine her and the rash, to determine the cause and treat it properly. ...Read more
My son seems to be having a lot of very wet diapers all of a sudden. Could this be a sign of diabetes? He is 2 years old and hasn't lost any weight.
Drink more, pee more: When I hear hoof beats, I think of horses not zebras. More wetting does mean more fluid is passing through, but 2yo's often develop a drinking fetish, especially if it's sweet (juices are junk). The diabetic 2yo can quickly drop a pound a day & eats constantly at the same time. If u are concerned, let your dr do a urine test. If no sugar in the pee and the urine is dilute, gradually reduce the fluids. ...Read more
Age 2 is a good age to start potty training. Specially if your child is giving you signals, such as taking of his own diaper or asking to be changed if wet. Remember children learn by association, let him see other people use the bathroom.
Be patient, all kids have accidents, they are supposed to, it is a learning process. Avoid pull ups as they are diapers in kids mind. Use training pants. ...Read more
My 2 yr old has quite a large clitoris. It kind ok pokes out when we do a diaper change. Should I take her dr and have her checked out?
When I was changing my almost 2 yr old poo diaper and I noticed a balloon. What should I do? Take him to the ER? I don't know if he swallowed more?
Not particularly: Unlike button batteries or toxic pills, things like balloons pass through with no problem. Toddlers eat bugs, pet food, small objects as part of their exploration of nature. Be aware of the issue & watch for other possible items in their visual pathway. I would never send anyone to the ER for baloons. The button batteries are a different issue ...Read more
2year old vomited (not just reflux) 4 times today. No fever or other symptoms. Looks healthy. Wet diapers. But very lethargic, quiet, clingy. Virus?
Vomiting: Most of the time vomiting and or diarrhea are caused by viruses such as influenza type b. It usually lasts from one to two days to a week. If sufficient fluids can be kept down then the immune system will rid the body of the infection. If fluids are a problem or if the vomiting is persistent or yellow or night time only vomiting then it is time to see the doctor. Pain is also a concern. ...Read more
My 2&1/2 yr old grandson has a pretty bad diaper rash he's in a lot of pain however he will not and never has let us give him OTC children's liquid ty?
Diaper rash: Please try a diaper rash cream such as Triple paste, and leave his diaper off as often as is practical to allow the skin to be free of moisture. If the rash is very very red, you should take him to the pediatrician to see if it is Candida and requires a medicated diaper cream ...Read more

How is HPV transmitted? If it can only be by sex what else could this be? 4months ago my 2 1/2year old daughter shoved a toy in her diaper and cut her butt crack about a half inch above her anus. 2 weeks later I noticed it was healing wrong, looked like e
Possible scar: Hpv is transmitted sexually but should not have anything to do with the described scenario. Part of the question is missing but sounds like the area that was cut looks strange. Aside from a wound that has not healed which is not likely she may have formed a keloid which is a very raised scar and a cosmetic problem only. An examination by medical provider can easily determine if this is the case. ...Read more
My 2 yr old has had diarrhea for a couple days and this last diaper change his poop was a pasty, pale yellow color. Is this normal?
Pasty yellow poo: Sure, this is fine. Stools definitely get odd in consistency as a child is getting over a viral diarrhea illness. Pasty yellow is within the normal color and consistency you can see. In terms of stool color, the main color to worry about is white, this is a sign of a bowel blockage. ...Read more
My 2 yr old has strange rash red and pimple like on belly buttocks and now one under her eye. No change in soaps or diapers. No other symp?
Two-year-old was very crabby this evening and his rectal temp is 97.2 through 97.5. He usually runs a little higher. Is this normal temp. 10 pm here.
Thermometers: Certainly the temperature is not high (<100.5) and that is reassuring. You might want to try another thermometer: either one for ear or under that arm. I do not recommend doing rectal temperatures on 2 year olds. They are not cooperative enough and it could be dangerous. Being crabby could be the early sign of illness so watch closely for other signs and symptoms. ...Read more
My two year old took a bit of a cheese stick through the wrapper. She swallowed the plastic wrapping. Do I need to worry about it being poisinous?

What should I give my two year old son who has nose congestion (can't breathe through his nose). I want to help that mainly.
Nasal wash: Many 2yo will seek out & get into all sorts of exposures & have respiratory congestion from inhaled irritants on upper respiratory infections. A nasal wash out using liberal amounts of otc saline spray can do wonders. Vaporizers are helpful sometimes but avoid vick's additives in small kids. I consider this air pollution & a throwback to indian sweat lodges, the fragrence can aggravate the problem, . ...Read more

Should I take my two year old to the doc if he has yellowish green snot? No fever, and he has been sleeping through the night, occasional dry cough
Cough: The most common diagnosis, given the symptoms you describe, is a viral illness. These often make a child uncomfortable, but are ultimately harmless. However, if the symptoms persist for more than a few days, even if he is comfortable, it's worth a look by your doctor. Additionally, if anything else changes (ie: fever, decreased appetite, irritability, unable to sleep at night), have him checked. ...Read more
Small red spot in 2 yo diaper today. No blood in stool. Other day took rectal temp. Mucus w/ little red on it. Acting fine. Constipated often-worry?
OK unless recurring: Even if it is blood, a small amount, one event would not be anything to worry about. It could be due to the thermometer causing some mild trauma or constipation. It could also not even be blood. I would have it checked if it is recurring or if there is a larger amount of blood. ...Read more
My 2 year old will go a whole day or two without food, whatever I put in front of him, how do I get him to eat more? I am worried about his health
Picky eaters: Picky eating will drive most parents crazy. At 2-3y their growth rate has slowed to ~5lb/3inch/yr which is much slower than earlier.Feeding matches need. Most feed well 4days a month & nibble the rest. Single item days are common (breads, vegies, etc) & a balanced week is more common than a balanced meal. If you only offer nutritious choices, they will get what they need. Vitamins are seldom needed ...Read more
2 1/2 YO has not had a wet diaper in 18 hours. He doesn't appear to be dehydrated or in pain and is drinking fluids. What could it be?
Great diapers or pbs: One of the "new" problems faced by advances in diaper design was the increase in perceived lack of wet diapers. In hospital settings we weigh them to keep track of wetting, since the moisture is pulled away and absorbed into drying agents. That said, a kid who truly doesn't wet in that time frame is a problem, so discuss it with his doc. ...Read more
