I had a tubal ligation two years ago and now all of a sudden my cycle started5 days early not sure why?
Hormonal changes: Unsure why but tubal ligation has a lot of drawbacks, unnatural, more cramps and hysterectomies after such but it may be thickened lining and need gyn dr to do a evaluation, sometimes just medrogyprogesterone for 10 days a month for 2-3 months more clean off thickened lining but should see a gyn dr. ...Read more
No sex since November 8, 2014. What could cause a light menstrual that lasts 10 days? Had a tubal ligation in 2008
Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections and hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit. ...Read more
What symptoms after a tubal ligation would you suggest it be reversed?! I have had horrible bleeding that last 7-10 days then start 4-7 days later
Excessive bleeding: Excessive bleeding post tubal ligation is a good reason to see a GYN MD and make sure that there isn't another GYN problem causing this issue first and foremost. If there isn't then unfortunately your options include endometrial ablation or hysterectomy rather than tubal reversal which is expensive and not a guarantee of bleeding cessation success. ...Read more

I am 12 days late and my bbt's are going up each day; also I had a tubal ligation 4 years ago, is there a chance I could be pregnant.?
Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more
28 yrs old, I have 3 kids, had tubal ligation, periods are very irregular, 30+ days in between sometimes 2+ periods in a month. Should I be concerned?
Need a GYN evaluatn: Irregularity of your cycle can occur for many different reasons. It is definitely not normal to have 2+ periods in a month. A normal cycle can be anywhere from 21-35 days long (although most are around 28 days, and are typically consistent). You should see your gyn to get evaluated for a thyroid abnormality and other causes of irregular cycles. ...Read more
This is not usual: Whether you had a laparoscopic surgery or a minilaparotomy procedure, you should normally be expected to feel better and better by day 4 "without severe throbbing pain". It would be best to notify your Gyn surgeon ASAP., seek a clinical evaluation and examination ASAP. And an emergent explanation for/treatment of your symptoms. ...Read more
I had a tubal ligation in 2014. And for the first time I'm late 10 days, no period. What's happening?
My cervix is high and hard and feels closed. I'm 10 days late I also had a tubal ligation. 2 years ago?
Tubal ligation: The cervix being high, firm, and closed is normal, except during labor. A tubal ligation often results in menstrual irregularity which can begin any time after the tubal. The failure rate of tubal ligation is ~2% (much higher than expected). You should do a pregnancy test. If positive, see a doctor ASAP. There is a higher rate of ectopic pregnancy after tubal ligation. ...Read more
I had a tubal ligation in 2004 and my periods usually last 6 days but this time it's slowing down pretty quick. What could be wrong?
Probably nothing: Menstrual cycle variation is normal, especially after age 35. If still uncertain, perform a pregnancy test now and in 1 week. If negative, cycles will usually return to normal. If positive, see your doctor immediately, due to the high risk of a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy. ...Read more
I had a tubal ligation 4 years ago. I had a period on nov8th then spotted the 26th. Dec, 27th I bled for 12 days what does this mean?
31y/o had a tubal ligation 7 years ago. I have never missed a cycle even when I was pregnant, now I'm 4 days late. Do I need to worry?
Tubal ligation: Fails roughly 1/100 to 1/200 times, depending on what method of ligation is used. Nor reason to worry: if you are late on a period do a pregnancy test today. If positive you need to call your doctor (or get one) ASAP, if negative you can wait a few weeks to see if/when the next period starts. ...Read more
I had my tubal ligation over 9 months ago. Each month after I stop bleeding a couple days to a week goes by and I start spotting. Is this normal?
Possible related: Tubal ligation usually does not affect the regularity of your period. Having bleeding in between your normal periods is called intermenstrual bleeding. If the blood flow to your ovaries was compromised during your tubal ligation, which is actually uncommon, this could make intermenstrual bleeding occur. More than likely it is by chance that your periods are now different. ...Read more
I got a tubal ligation done in 2006 and my menstrual stay on 5 days and skips 21 days it been like that for 6 yrs...Im a week late can I be pregnant
A: A tubal ligation is the most effective form of birth control, but not 100%. It is very important that you do a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant. If you are pregnant, it could be a tubal or ectopic pregnancy which can be life threatening. Since the overall failure rate for a tubal ligation is only about 1 in 300, it is unlikely you are pregnant. However since the danger of being pregnant is so serious (possible death), it is important that you check for it. Go to the pharmacy and get a pregnancy test- actually get two just to be sure. If you are pregnant, see a doctor immediately. ...Read more

? Appendicitis: Always possible is appendicitis, which does not come & go; after onset becomes constant, worsens, & is accompanied by fever, fatigue, and vomiting, & is a true medical emergency. If this is not problem have concern for urinary tract infection. Might be related to ligation, and for this will need to go back to the surgeon who did tubal ligation. Constant pain greater concern than intermittent. ...Read more
Check for pregnancy: Tubal ligation is very effective at preventing pregnancy but no contraceptive method is 100% effective. Therefore, if your cycle is delayed you should check a pregnancy test or even see you gynecologist for blood pregnancy test because if you are pregnant there is a chance it could be a tubal pregnancy and that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. ...Read more
Pregnancy test: This may be normal especially if you stopped a hormonal birth control after your surgery. As long as a upt is negative, I wouldn't worry. Let your normal cycle establish & keep track of your cycle. If you are pregnant, see your gyn asap since an ectopic (tubal pregnancy) is the most dangerous risk following a tubal ligation. I hope all is well for you. ...Read more
I had a tubal ligation 9-06 post c-section, reg 28 day cycles, first day 1/29/16, 3 days pink bleeding days 18-21. staining day 23. Thoughts?
Probably normal: This is probably a normal variation. A tubal ligation is the best type of contraception available. And very rarely allows for pregnancy. The most likely cause of your symptoms is a fluctuation in your hormone levels causing a shift in your menstrual cycle. There are many ways this can happen, but usually the cycle resumes on its own. ...Read more

15 days late on period. Tubal ligation done in 2007. What else can cause this? Can I still get pregnant?
It is unlikely that you are pregnant but a pregnancy test should rule it out.
You may have failed to ovulate which might prolong your period since no Progesterone would be produced to mature your uterine lining so that it would shed. If this is indeed so your late period could be scant but somewhat prolonged. ...Read more

Not normal: Should not be from the tubal, I assume it was laparoscopic, I do my transcervcal in the office by the essure method, safer, easier, less chance for problems, u need to see your gyn as u need an exam and ultrasound, u may need a diagnostic laparosocpy to see if u have adhesions or other problems. ...Read more
