I was prescribed zpack for chlamydia and was told to take as directed. So I took 1500mg over four days. This should cure it?
7 days: I assume you are referring to genital chlamydia infection as there are other types. Azithfromycin 1 gram given in 1 dose is the recommended treatment in most guidelines. Doxycycline 100mgs. Twice a day for 7 days would be an alternative. Do not use doxycyline if you might be pregnant. ...Read more

Here are some ...: The recommended course for doxycycline is 100 mg orally twice daily for 7 days if not pregnant. But for most cases, 5-day course should do just well. But for reassuring chlamydia cure, be tested in 1-2 weeks after this 5-day use of Doxycycline. For minimizing reinfection or spread, make sure the partner be tested, treated, and followed if any possible. Other option is one dose of Azithromycin. ...Read more

Waited 7-10 post treatment. Now, how many days before I can take proof of cure (poc) test for chlamydia? Don't want false positive.
Variable, but...: In general, repeat testing in 2-4 weeks after treatment. In reality, no test can gives a 100% sensitivity & specificity reflecting some inherent features of laboratory procedures, personal health/immunity, drug effectiveness, etc. Besides, many chlamydia-infected may go unnoticed due to lacking symptoms. Seven days: The recommended treatment is twice daily for seven days. If you only have 10 pills, take one tablet twice a day until gone. You should also be checked for gonorrhea, HIV and syphilis, if you haven't been tested already, and you should notify anyone that you've had unprotected sex with that they should get tested as well. ...Read more

How do I know the single tablet taken for four days of azithromycin is working to cure chlamydia?
Retest later: That's atypical treatment for chlamydia. The usual and recommended Azithromycin dose is 1 gram in a single dose (4 tablets of 250 mg). Probably taking it Z-Pak style over 4-5 days would work, but it hasn't been studied. Either way, there's no way to know it has worked except to be re-tested later. OTOH, Azithromycin is highly reliable (95+% effective) and you can assume it will be effective. ...Read more

I have giving my male partner metronidazole to treat Chlamydia. Is he cured, because he has taking it for 7 days? Should I have sex and oral sex?
Won't fix it: I can understand you using some left over med to treat someone for what you assume is the problem but if it is chlamydia, metronidazole is not going to cure it. This is a good question to ask, and it points out the confusion over std's. Meds that cure one don't cure all. And without proper diagnosis and treatment you can end up sterile when you get chlamydia because of the shortcut. ...Read more
Why is my vagina still a little itchy and slightly burning if I took the azithromycin to cure chlamydia? I took the medicine 4 days ago
Vaginal itching: You may have gotten secondary yeast infection, may not have cured the Chlamydia, may have had more than a single infection and only treated one, may have gotten something new since being diagnosed with Chlamydia. Took azithromycin (1g in one go) against chlamydia 5 days ago. Discharge has been reduced and almost colorless, sting persists while urinating. Am i being cured or need more/different antibiotics?
Chlamydia: One gram of Azithromycin is usually all that is needed for chlamydia. However, where there is one std, there can be others like gonorrhea. If you were specifically tested and only chlamydia was present, that is probably all that you need to do. The irritation can last up to a week to 10 days as you are healing for the infection. As long as you are doing a little better every day, you can wait. ...Read more
