Bloating below naval for a year. Colonoscopy normal. Stool comes out without any problem. What tests do I need?

Belly bloating: There are lots of reasons for abdominal discomfort & bloating, & not all of them are due to the GI tract. Even "functional" syndromes may be present without underlying "disease." however PSBO (paralyzed gut) due to metabolic & inflammatory conditions nearby (like an untreated infection of the urinary tract)must be considered & addressed. Check with your doctor for examination & treatment options. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy Cuz of nausea, bloating, cramping, diarreah. Small polyp found, awaiting biopsie. What r all the diff colon diseases?

Too big a topic: Can't answer "all the colon diseases" in this small field. The large categories are infectious, malignant, inflammatory, drug-induced, and inherited. The biopsy result of your polyp will tell you what kind it is and therefore what category it falls into. Someone your age usually has benign (non-cancerous) polyps that are found incidentally while a colonoscopy is being done for other symptoms. ...Read more

I have severe lower stomach bloating every night that is very painful. I've had and upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and scans that all came back normal!

I had a rough colonoscopy/EGD on thursday because of a tortuous colon. Still experiencing cramping bloating and no BM yet should I be concerned?

Maybe. Give GI a call: Gastroenterologists do describe "colonic redundancy" &/or "tortuosity" as a colonic anatomic variant that makes performing colonoscopy technically more challenging. In such cases, there may be considerable looping & coiling by the colon, that may not translate into colon dysfunction. Such variation can be seen in laxative users, when significant fibrosis/adhesions distort colon, some body types. ...Read more

Would diagnostic laparoscopy find ovarian cancer if there was any? I've had one, and ultrasounds and a colonoscopy but no cause for bloating found

Would diagnostic laparoscopy find ovarian cancer if there was any? I've had one, and ultrasounds and a colonoscopy but no cause for bloating found

Usually: Yes provided the ovaries were readily visible and you had a thorough laparoscopy. Bloating is often caused by excessive fiber along with inadequate fluids and all of the exams you had would all be negative. Try modifying your diet, cut out caffeine and drink 80-100 oz of fluids per day for 10-15 days. Simethicone and charcoal tablets may also help as will probiotics. ...Read more

Had colonoscopy friday having terrible bloating and cramping but no bm today. Had constipation before test. I already drink lots of water & eat fiber?

Usually this: Is due to pockets of gas trapped after the colonoscopy. With the bowel prep it is not unusual to go 2-3 days after a scope before you have a bowewl movement. Eat light meals until you do and sometimes warm tub soaks or a heating pad can help. If you are running a fever call your endoscopist immediately. ...Read more

Calprotectin 680 with right abdomen pain. Colonoscopy clean, stool hard and sometimes liquid. Still got a bit of pain and bloating. 100% Crohns right?

Ileitis: Your gastroenterologist is best qualified to answer this, but I wonder if Crohn involvement of the ileus explains the elevated calprotectin level and your symptoms. Apparently no involvement of the colon was visualized. I also assume that irritable bowel syndrome, lactose and gluten intolerance are ruled out. ...Read more

I'm 65. Have change in bowel habbits, bloating, gas. Dr told me ibs, did colonoscopy yesterday and says multiple hyperemic patches in rectum and sigmoid?

Time 4 food allergy: Testing. If you're having areas of inflammation in your lower bowel/colon area, you are eating things that your body doesn't care for or irritating it, and that can appear as a delayed sensitivity to foods. You may want to try an elimination diet and see if your bloating, constipation, 'ibs' symptoms go away. Stop dairy, corn, wheat, soy, sugar, potatoes, and see what happens. There may be others! ...Read more

Is a colonoscopy really necessary at this age, doc wants one because 1 yr+ abdominal pain/ bloating and reflux has now progressed to colon pain/cpated?

I am a 47 yr old female. I have severe abdominal bloating, (colonoscopy showed nothing), pelvic cramps, no menstrual periods for 3 months, and backac?

Several things: At 47 you are in the perimenopause and skipping periods is common. It may well be that the skipped periods aren't related to your backache, bloating, and pelvic cramping. A normal colonoscopy doesn't rule out irritable bowel syndrome which can cause these symptoms. Talk to your PCP, GYN, or the doctor who did your colonoscopy about this. ...Read more

Please DON'T wait!: Michael, you are bleeding from something that is as yet not diagnosed. This could be the beginning of a major bleed, which could be life threatening. Call the Gastroenterologist who scheduled the colonoscopy and he will probably send you to the ED. If you can't reach him/her, go in anyway. If you are weak or dizzy AT ALL, please call an ambulance. ...Read more

Diet: If you have had a full work-up for your constipation, including lab tests. And you've reviewed any medications that might cause constipation, like blood pressure medications, then I would suggest you work on diet. Some people need a lot of fiber. So lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, the yogurt activia contains a probiotic that helps with constipation. ...Read more
