What has protein. Low carb and low or no sugar. Need protein diet?

What has protein. Low carb and low or no sugar. Need protein diet?

I think you are: Asking about a low carb diet. Please check w/professional to make sure this is a good food plan for you. Meat and diary are high protein food sources. Complex carbs such as whole grains and vegetables break down more slowly in the body and are better for you than simple carbs from refined grains in bread, muffins, cookies, etc. Please look up glycemic index and eat low on that. Peace. Read more

Is no carb all protein diet beneficial?

Is no carb all protein diet beneficial?

DANGEROUS, however:: A no carb diet would consist only of meat ; eggs; I don't know anyone who recommends this. It would result in many nutritional deficiencies, completely lacking vitamin c, fiber, flavonoids ; other phytonutrients essential for good health.
There is lots of research showing benefits of a vegetarian diet but none on the benefits of no carb diet. However, many recommend a low carb diet. See comment:. Read more

Advice? Would low carb high fat/protein diet clog my arteries?

Controversial: Conventional wisdom is "yes" but short term studies of patients on the adkin's diet (low carb, high fat) surprisingly had lower cholesterols. And it's unknown if the long term incidence of disease and death is affected. Read more

What to do if I am on the low carb high protein diet. Can I eat veggie patties from moring star?

At odds: Your low carb diet is, by definition, a high fat diet. Morning star is vegetarian, by definition low fat. You must make a choice: low fat or low carb. You can't do both at the same time. (i favor vegetarian, but you didn't ask!). Read more

Expert opinions? Which has been proven to be the healthiest: a low-carb, hi protein diet or a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet?

Expert opinions? Which has been proven to be the healthiest: a low-carb, hi protein diet or a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet?

Ideas vary: Different folks here will make different recommendations. Things seem to be shaking out recently in favor of the mediterranean diet, which is none-of-the-above. Especially, don't think that diet is so magic that it will make it unnecessary to exercise, otherwise live a healthy lifestyle, or ignore your personal physician's advice about your special health needs. Glad you're proactive. Read more

Is it okay to go on a low-carb and high protein diet, with 1 hour of physical activity, to lose weight and be healthy?

Is it okay to go on a low-carb and high protein diet, with 1 hour of physical activity, to lose weight and be healthy?

Won't harm: Low carb, high protein diets are the basis of several diets such as atkin's diet. It is important to note that the key to weight is not losing weight but maintaining as close to ideal weight as possible over time. Significant changes in diet that can not be sustained over the years is likely to lead to a weight loss/weight gain roller coaster that is not conducive to good health. Read more

I'm an endomorph & im on a high protein diet, 1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight, 100-150g of good carbs & minimum fats, is this a gd diet plan?

Depends, Prob. Not: If your goal is to build body fat, then yes, otherwise no. Carbs block burning fat, so which are "good". Protein also stimulates Insulin release, Insulin promotes fat storage & high protein can drive higher kidney failure rates, so high questionable. Fats, of natural origin, best evidence of being healthy for humans. Study: "big fat lies", "science for smart people", dietdoctor, lustig, taubes... Read more

I am an endomorph & follow a low carb high protein diet, why is it that I still gain weight if my carb sources come from grains (eg wholemeal bread)?

Weight gain: You may be surprized but whole wheat bread has a greater glycemic index than a candy bar. That means that the bread is loaded with sugar. You have to modify your diet. Consult a dietician. Read more

I want to lose about 3 or 4 kilos, but I also want to build muscle. Would a high protein diet and low carbs be good for me?

I want to lose about 3 or 4 kilos, but I also want to build muscle. Would a high protein diet and low carbs be good for me?

Balanced diet best.: You don't actually need a LOT of protein in your diet to build muscle. What you need is a BALANCED diet, including fat and carbs. There is no need to eat large amounts of protein because most of it will be wasted. Follow a balanced diet sheet for your age, sex, and BMI. The most important (and hardest) thing to do is be CONSISTENT with your workouts and healthy diet. Good luck! Read more

If you are on a low carb and more protein diet try to loose weight some time you can have uncomfortable very thin stools how to avoid them?

High fiber CHO: As a certified sports nutritionist I urge you to focus on overall caloric restriction as opposed to restriction of important macro and micro nutrients. Healthy carbohydrate (CHO) associated with weight loss and intestinal health is high fiber & condensed in nutrients like fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, berries and select grains. The average male can loose weight on a 2000 kcal day diet! Read more

At what point in time would an anorexic regain her period? BMI at 18.2. Originally weight at 18.7. Is low carb, high fat and protein diet beneficial?

BMI 18: I can't answer your question about periods, but a BMI of 18 is normal (18-25) and a low carb, high fat, protein diet perfectly okay. You should be trying to match your caloric need to your calories consumed. For example, if you're 5 feet, 5 inches (165 cm), at 18, your estimated caloric need is roughly 1600 to 1800 calories a day. Aim for that. Read more

Amenorrhea: Being underweight is known cause of amenorrhea or lack of menses. Normal body mass index is 18.5-24.9. If you "lost" your menses at BMI 18.8 and now have BMI 18.2, then you're losing weight, not gaining, assuming your height hasn't increased. You might have to gain even more weight before you start menstruating regularly again. This also assumes that you haven't engaged in unprotected sex. Read more
