They don't: Sebaceous cysts, no matter the size typically don't go away on their own. If they are red and swollen they may drain spontaneously and appear smaller after this but will often recur. The only way to get rid of them is to have removed. ...Read more

How long for infected sebaceous cyst on penis to go away?

Sebaceous cyst: Infected cysts are best treated with drainage and good wound care (soap and h2o). Takes about 2 weeks to heal. Would suggest aggressive scrubbing and, generally, keep it clean. In this case the treatment might be better than the disease. Hope it's just a cyst. ;). ...Read more

Can sebaceous cyst hyperplasia go away on its own on the face?

No: So a sebaceous cyst can shrink or get infected and grow - but it is never really completely gone unless it is resected (removed) surgically. This is because the entire cyst shell and wall must be removed. The best person to do this is a surgeon or someone with lots of experience. See your local doctor or general or plastic surgeon for help. ...Read more

If I have an infected sebaceous cyst do I have to get it treated or will it go away with time? I don't think i can get it treated for a while.

Will need treatment: The cyst will not go away on its own and will occasionally flare up and cause you pain and discomfort, even if you are able to treat it successfully for the time being with antibiotics. It will be much better to cool it off with antibiotics and then have your plastic surgeon remove it entirely. The surgeon must remove the entire capsule with it to avoid a recurrence. Be well, dr. Fred. ...Read more
