How long will I have to wear healing cap on my tooth implant before I can get the final crown?

How long will I have to wear healing cap on my tooth implant before I can get the final crown?

It depends...: The surgeon who placed the dental implant determines when the implant can be "loaded" or when the crown can be placed. Second, the dentist who takes the impression for the crown must allow the laboratory to let him/her know when the crown will be ready; this may take up to three weeks following the impression in most all cases. ...Read more

I just got my tooth extracted. How long before I can get a dental implant?

Depends on area: Sometimes the dental implant can be placed at the time of extraction if the site has sufficient bone to engage an implant and there is no infection and sometimes the extraction site has to be grafted with bone (and connective tissue as well) and the implant placed after the site has healed. Each case is decided on an individual basis on what is best for the patient and will have the best results! ...Read more

How long do I have to wait to get dental implants after tooth removal?

Depends: There are times where an implant is placed at the same time as the extraction. This is called an immediate placement. Cannot always do this technique and it may be 6 - 9 months. ...Read more

If I get a gold crown and the tooth hurts, can I receive an implant using the same gold crown?

If I get a gold crown and the tooth hurts, can I receive an implant using the same gold crown?

No: If your tooth hurts, you may not need to lose it. Root canal therapy, done through the crown, may eliminate the pain and solve the problem. If the tooth is lost, then the existing crown will not be usable since the tooth on which it once fit is not the same shape at the gumline as the implant and thus its fit will be unacceptable. ...Read more

Wanted implants on tooth 12&13 but my dentist said 4 unit bridge is better as implants takes long to do, expensive, and could get infected. Feedback?

Both are ok: A 4 unit bridge is a quicker treatment however implants, when done well are great.
The downside to the bridge is that teeth #11 and #14 will need to be drilled down to receive the bridge. If these teeth have few or no previous work, you maybe should op for the implants.

My dentist suggested root canal to my 2nd molar tooth with cavity in the lower jaw. I can't afford having crown, can I skip it n still get treatment?

Short term: The root canal treats potential tooth pain or infection. The tooth will be weak. The crown gives back some strength, and will be needed in the long term if a lot of tooth is already missing. You might do the crown later when you can better afford it. But the tooth can break. And you could then lose it. You could find a dentist to do a biocore. It is a fiber reinforced resin filling. ...Read more

Is a healing cap the same as a healing abutment that protrudes through the gum? Just had 2 dental implants. Want to get a better understanding.

NO: Healing cap refers to a thin-topped screw which protects the top of the implant from debris/ ingrowth of tissue/bone. We have been using these from the inception of the root-form implant in the 60's.Later we learned that we could eliminate a surgical step by placing a healing abutment instead. This transverses the tissue and protrudes to a selected height, preserving access to the implant. Good Luck ...Read more
