Others may have more trouble dealing with pain after surgery and take longer to recover. If your gallbladder is very sick....
Unknown: Although we do the same operation on everyone for gallbladder disease, everyone reacts to it differently. Some of my patients are back to normal within a day or two, but others are incapacitated for 6 wks or more. Therefore, unfortunately, there is no way to answer your question with any certainty.

1-2 weeks: It depends on how bad the inflammation, bleeding was, laparoscopic or not?, Still, in most cases you will go home in 1 -2 days, be in pain the first week, sore the second and then return to activities the 3rd or 4th week. I have hematoma after gallbladder surgery. Don't know how big it is. How long does it usually take for the body to absorb it and why does it happen?
About Six Weeks: Hematomas are quite common after surgery. It is just collection of blood which gets clotted after the surgery and with time liquefies and gets absorped in the blood stream. Most hematomas do not require any treatment and resolve by itself. But sometime if they are large and pressing on some organ/ structure or it gets infected, then it has to be drained and treated appropriately. Discuss with SurgeonSee 1 more doctor answer

I had gallbladder surgery 2 months ago then had a leak. Recovery long. Now when I lay dwn feel pressure under right side rib. Is it just healing?
Postop Bile Leak: Postoperative bile leaks are rare but potentially very serious complications of gallbladder surgery. These are usually managed by the placement of drains: endoscopic (into the bile duct) +/- percutaneous (into the fluid collection). Depending on the site of the leak and method of rx, you may still be experiencing pain from an ongoing problem. See your surgeon as soon as possible.See 1 more doctor answer
