How Long Will A Broken Patella Take To Fully Heal
About 3 months: When you say "knee", that could be many types of fractures. If it is a tibial plateau fracture (a fracture of the top part of the tibia), those fractures generally heal in about three months. The healing time can be affected by the health of the patient (smokers and diabetics tend to heal more slowly). Also, the severity of the fracture can impact the healing time. 10-12 weeks is a good estimate. ...Read more
3 months: Typically fractures of any part of the body will take 2-3 months to heal. The bone will continue to remodel for up to 12-18 months. Cartilage injuries associated with fractures in the knee can take longer to heal if it is a contusion (6 months) or may not heal if the trauma was significant enough to cause cartilage cell death. In that case, posttraumatic arthritis may occur. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Fell on right knee on 02/02/14 X-ray showed broken patella. Mri on 02/09 showed large hematoma. On warfarin for prothestic aortic valve what can I do?
Basic option.: If the fracture is together and the pieces are not separated then a long leg knee brace can be used to let the fracture heals over six weeks. With the blood in the knee joint, which is the hematoma, from the broken kneecap, if it is a very swollen it can be drained and that fluid pressure can be reduced. I would also use gentle compression and intermittent ice. Discuss this further with your orthopedic surgeon. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
