How Long Will A Broken Elbow Take To Heal
I agree, it depends: This depends on several factors, age (kids heal much more quickly than adults), whether the fracture is widely displaced - suggests greater disruption of blood supply, your underlying medical condition (health people heal more quickly), where the fracture is (which bone, what location) and how the fracture was treated - operatively or non-operatively. Good luck!See 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Elbow fractures come in all shapes and sizes. Some need no treatment and you could use your elbow even before the bones heal. In other cases where the bones are displaced surgery may be needed. An x-ray and an examination by an orthopedic surgeon will help make the diagnosis to start the correct treatment.See 1 more doctor answer
Well: First of all you are young so that is good. Some depends on where the fracture is but generally takes 6 weeks for healing
Weeks to months: This can be a tough injury to recover from, mainly due to the work/time required to regain strength and range of motion. The key to recovery is range of motion - in most cases, you should begin range of motion at approximately 2 weeks, and subsequently progress to more aggressive rom as the bone heals. Typically a hinged elbow brace is used to protect the fracture while allowing range of motion.
See below: Bones take at least 6-8 weeks to heal and thus this time can give you an idea but talk to you orthopedist.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Fractures generally heal in 6-8 weeks however in the elbow it depends upon WHERE the fracture is. Avulsion fractures (known as "chip" fractures usually heal a lot faster! Hope this is helpful! Dr Z
4-6 weeks: Depending on the type of fracture, 4-6 weeks is the usual healing time. Check with your orthopedic surgeon.
Depends: Witout knowing more about the fracture, long term consequences cannot be predicted. Some elbow fractures will heal and after rehab will have no long-rem problems. Others, especially those with significant joint damage cause loss of motion and possible post-traumatic arthrosis. You should did the fracture with your physician.See 3 more doctor answers
Yes: If the elbow heals correctly, completely and you retain your full range of motion, you should be able to return to push ups.
Depends: That would be up to your orthopedist. There are usually a day or so and usually less than a week of rest and elevation and use of ice and pain meds and then depending on the splinting and comfort, the child can return to scool with the proper accommodations. Being out more than a week would seem like a long time to me unless complicated fracture.See 1 more doctor answer
I have a broken elbow since thursday I just want to know how long this serve pain lasts and it's really swollen still when should the swelling go down?
Splint while swollen: The longer term cast is generally delayed until the initial swelling of the injury has subsided. This allows a snug fit so the cast will not allow excessive movement while the bones mend. Swelling tends to peak at 3 days+/- & subside enough after 5d- a week to cast. Timing can vary & the clinical judgment of the physician can decide if it's too early or late to cast.
With a broken elbow, how long will it remain painful at the wrist when turning a key ignition or door knobs? Wrist hurts 3 weeks after elbow surgery.
Elbow surgery: The interosseous membrane can be injured with elbow trauma. This runs between the bones in the forearm (radius and ulna). This can lead to pain in the forearm with pronation/supination (palm up/palm down). X-rays performed of the wrist will ensure that the distal radial ulnar joint was not involved in your accident and be a separate reason your wrist still hurts.See 2 more doctor answers
