How Long Until My Abscess Stops Draining
I had an abscess that was cut and drained in my navel a couple days ago and he packed my wound with this packing stuff. He did not tell me how long to leave it in and I am concerned on if it should be removed?
How long does it take a perianal abscess to drain? I had one opened last sunday and I'm still getting a fair amount of drainage on gauze pads today...
May need more: If its still draining pus, may need to be opened more. If the dressing is dry or foul smelling when you change it, it needs to be changed more often. Wash it out well too. A pus hole is usually a carbuncle. Unfortunately it usually needs antibiotics and surgical removal. See a doctor for these. It does not heal up unless the entire hole/cyst is removed. Maybe you have something else that might just heal on its own. An infected cut?
