Would going from 40 to 30 mg of Cymbalta (duloxetine) take about 3 days to reach steady state and can it actually be more effective at 30. seems that way for me?
Right cymbalta (duloxetine) dose: For ur depression or anxiety is the dose that u & ur doc decide has the best risk/benefit, & side effect profile in ur individual case. cymbalta (duloxetine), an SNRI, has a 12h 1/2 life. Thus, steady state should be achieved in 6 X 12h =3d. if a loer dose seems more effective, then perhaps u've alleviated a side effect by reducing? Never make changes to ur med regimen without ur docs instruction ...Read more

Starting tomorrow (tues) dr. Is taking me from 60 to 40 cymbalta (duloxetine) in hope of reducing racing thoughts. How long until a steady state is reached at 40?
Time to SS varies: Theoretically, steady states of drugs occur within 5 normal dosing interval periods of drug. In other words, if the drug is taken once daily then, ss is expected in 5 days...If every 12 hrs. Then, 2-3 days, etc. Going back down is approximately the same dynamic based upon the drug's metabolism out of the body. In reality each individual is different therefore, times to ss going or down can vary. ...Read more
How long would it take for a steady state concentration from 100mg of lamictal to 50 mg--keeping in mind I also take 600 mg of tegretol.
Probably 2-3 days: Since the half-life of Lamictal is ordinarily about 33 hours (presuming normal kidney function) and the elimination half-life is decreased significantly by the presence of tegretol that speeds lamictal's metabolism, I think it should only take 2 to 3 days to reach steady state on 50 mg daily after having previously been on 100 mg daily. ...Read more
Since being on cymbalta (duloxetine) 60 mg. 2 months very hyper...Also take tegretol -klonopin-lamictal...If I go back to 30 how long til steady state. Is this rare?
Cymbalta (duloxetine) hypo mania: This is not rare at all. We are learning to rely less on antidepressants in bipolar disorder because of this. Antidepressants, especially snri's like Cymbalta and Effexor may cause more mood switching than most. Wellbutrin is said to cause it the least. The issue is not the steady state, but whether this effect will continue even at 30 mg a day. Latuda (lurasidone) is approved for treatment of BP depression. ...Read more

Been taking Lexapro (escitalopram) for five years. Once I stop how long does it take for the drug to leave the system?
Not that simple: Assuming you haven't developed any liver or kidney disease in the last 5 years, the drug will be eliminated at the same rate whether you've taken it for 5 years or 5 days. The difference is that your brain may have accommodated to the drug in ways that are not dose-dependent. If so, how long the drug EFFECT will wear off in your case can't be predicted or measured in any practical way. ...Read more

If a drug has reached steady state, and then its dose increased, will the drug have a new steady state?
Yes: Drug concentration depends upon exposure (ingestion, injection, infusion) and the bodies means for disposal (metabolism, excretion by urine or liver, spontaneous breakdown).
