How Long To Wait To Shower After Testicular Torsion Operation
I have had a testicular torsion operation just over two weeks ago. Will I be okay to have a proper soak in the bath ie for 10-20 minuted long?
Ask surgeon: If the wound is well healed it shouldn't be a problem, but your surgeon is best qualified to answer your question.
Yes: Showering can begin 48 hours after testicular surgery. You should avoid bathing or soaking in water for 2 weeks. Inspect the surgical area daily and followup with your surgeon if there is any sign of infection.See 1 more doctor answer
Vary but short...: The duration of postop recovery may highly vary from as short as one week to as long as 4-6 weeks, but usually within 2 weeks. In fact, most of my patients returned to work in 1-2 weeks.See 1 more doctor answer
Is there such thing as minor testicular torsion, that goes away on its own/does not require surgery? If so how long does it typically take to heal?
Reduction: Some torsions (twisting) can "un-twist" themselves after a few seconds. Torsions are incredibly painful, & resolution of pain can mean the problem has temporarily resolved. However, torsions don't happen in a vacuum - "bell-clapper" deformities & other fixable problems lead to recurrent, permanent torsion. See a Urologist to evaluate. Even deformities that predispose you to torsion should be fixed
I jut had surgery for testicular torsion four days ago. How long will it take the stitches in my scrotum to heal?
Torsion stitches: Usually both testicles are sutured to the muscle wall that separates the scrotal sac into a right and left side inside the scrotum. These stitches are often permanent and most often prevent both testicles from twisting again. On the outside skin of the scrotum, absorbable sutures are used. They disintegrate in 10-14 days.
I had surgery last Wednesday for a testicular torsion and an having problems keeping the area clean. What's the best shower strategy? I have dissolvable stitches so is that a problem? Also, the bandages got caught in the skin glue and can't be removed furt
Sponge bath: Use Saran Wrap around surgical wound site along with towels. Sponge bathing is key. And once finished make sure area us dry
I just had surgery from having testicular torsion 5 days ago! I'am very sexual active. I wanted to know how long before I can have sex or masterbate?
Torsion: Follow the advise of your surgeon. Take at least a week or two off.
No it shouldn't: This is the responsibility of the surgeon who performed the operation.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Testicular torsion is not an elective procedure, so the surgical results vary with the length and degree of blood loss to the affected testicle before surgery. If your surgeon was able to safe the testicle, you may stay longer in the hospital to observe for signs of infection, delayed ischemic problems. If the testicle was removed, the recovery might be short. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Just keep clean...: Some degree of pain, redness, and "swelling" at incision are expected, worst for 1-2 days, and get better day by day afterwards. As long as it moves in such expected postop course, you're ok. All you need to do is do nothing but keep the incision dry and clean. Why? What we do after skin edges seal will make no difference to the tissue beneath the skin. If still in doubt, see doc timely.
I had a testicular torsion 2 years ago, now I have a lump on my testicle. Is that something I should worry about or is it common after that operation?
Exam: This may certainly be scar tissue form the surgery; however, it would be prudent to get examined by your surgeon.
Pain: Emergent surgery is needed to explore testis through scrotum and fix the affected testis if salvageable as well as the opposite one; the time window for saving torsed testis is about 6-8 hours, so go in a hurry. If the torsed testis cannot be saved, remove it (orchiectomy). Postop pain and swelling are expected and usually resolved nicely after the worst pain over the first/second postop days.
Several possible.: Surgery for testicular torsion exposes the testicle, de-torses the spermatic cord, and fixes both testicles in place (orchipexy). The incision is similar to a hernia surgery. If the torsed testis is not viable, it is removed. Testicular salvage rates are between 41-70%, depending on age and time to surgery. Orchipexy fixes the testicles in place to prevent future episodes.
The urologist.: Almost always performed by a urologist. Discuss any concerns with any physician in advance. It is a pretty-side-effect free procedure and is done in outpatient surgery.
Here are some. ..: Bilateral orchiopexy is the surgical procedures to fix mobile testis of testicular torsion, which can be done safely under anesthesia as outpatient with very low rate of complications under experienced hands, and considered as an emergent surgery for acute case within 10 hours after its onset or as elective/urgent one for intermittent torsion. Detail? Ask Doc timely. Best wish. ..
Manual rotation.: Non-surgical correction can sometimes be done by manually rotating the testicle in the opposite direction (outward, towards the thigh). If this is initially unsuccessful, a forced manual rotation in the other direction may correct it. Manual detorsion is successful in 26.5% to 80% of patients. This is a surgical emergency that needs immediate therapy but with good chance of success.See 1 more doctor answer
How expensive is surgery for intermittent testicular torsion? And how much time is needed to recuperate?
Same...: The involved techniques and costs for either intermittent torsion or one-way full-blown torsion are about the same, but the full-blown one may at times pose some difficulty in deciding to fix or remove it.See 1 more doctor answer
Torsion: Nothing will happen if you are recovered from your surgery.
