Been diagnosed with hyphema, I see like floaters...It is the blood? How long does it take to go away?

Vitreous hemorrhage: Hyphema (blood in the front of the eye) is usually from trauma that can cause the vitreous gel to pull on the retina and tear the retina or its blood vessels. Patients experience this as flashes floaters. You need a dilated retinal examination to detect this and receive treatment to prevent retinal detachment.

Can you tell me is full recovery expected from a hyphema?

Very possible.: Hyphemas require urgent assessment by an ophthalmologist as they may result in permanent visual impairment. A long-standing hyphema may result in corneal and other eye tissue damage. Blood accumulation may also cause an elevation of the intraocular pressure. Most uncomplicated hyphemas resolve within 5–6 days. Tge key is to be under the careful care of an ophthalmologist.

I was diagnosed with hyphema. I'm getting occasional blur, what to do?

Follow instructions: Make sure you get checked out by an eye specialist asap. Many hyphemas resolve with little more than time, but they can result in irreversible, painful loss of vision and glaucoma. Minimize risk of rebleeding in eye by limiting activity and stopping blood thinners. You should also be on drops that can keep the pupil dilated, reduces inflammation, and sometimes eye pressure. Monitor pressure.

Could I play video games even if I have hyphema?

Could I play video games even if I have hyphema?

Better not to.: Resting the eye is very important for the hyphema to clear. Many ophthalmologists would recommend bed rest, or at least limited activity with elevation of the head as well. Reading and playing video games is also discouraged as rapid eye movement may cause re-bleeding. Further complications may occur which would put your vision at risk. Make sure you are under the care of an ophthalmologist.
