How Long Till Lorazepam Kicks In
How long till ativan (lorazepam) leaves the body for 2.5 weeks I've been taking anywhere from 1.5 mg to 1 and have not taken any since Wednesday?
Half-life: To be conservative always use the top end of half-life ranges. Ativan's is 20hrs to have only half your last dose in your system. So, after approx a day you'd have less than 1 mg in you. After 2 days, . 5 -- 3 days, . 25 -- 4 days, . 125. It should be totally gone by a week. It may be less - but I'm being conservative. Best! ...Read more

It's variable.: The sedative, calming, and mental slowing can be expected to last 5-6 hours, although the medication can still be detected in your blood and urine for about twice that time. Persons can, and do, lose their driver licenses if they drive under the influence of benzodiazepines, and doctors who prescribe Clonazepam (lasts 8-9 hours), etc., are remiss if they don't warn patients not to drive. ...Read more
Not long: Lorazepam is short-acting and fast-acting - usually less than a half hour. If your anxiety is severe, what may seem like a drug that's not working is a dose that's too low. Lorazepam should only be used short term. There are better drugs than benzodiazepines for anxiety that's not a temporary problem. ...Read more

About 40 hours: The elimination half-life of lorazepam is about 12 hours on average; so, assuming such averages, it takes 3.3 half-lives to eliminate 90% from a given body; thus about 39.6 hours. However, the effects would be gone earlier than that since the levels in the body would not be sufficient to cause an effect. ...Read more

Hi. I have a work presentation to make in 3 days & m 2 anxious. I have lorazepam in. 05 mg. How much to take before & how long before? Thank u.
Try before!: Make sure you try the medicine before. Lorazepam is sedating and you will want to be focused and not groggy. You may want to ask for a beta blocker which is also good, but does not make you groggy. Try them before the presentation. If you HAVE to take the lorazepam since it is only three days away, then only 0.25 mg please. ...Read more
It depends...: On what you were using it for and what dose you were on. If you were using it for insomnia, you might find that you are sleeping better even after just one sleepless night off it. If you were on a large dose, you should taper it off slowly to avoid a seizure. For many people, Lorazepam is prescribed because of an anxiety disorder, and that doesn't go away on its own. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more
6 to 8 hours active: Ativan (lorazepam) is a mid range benzodiazepine with an active period of 6-8 hours of sedation. After 6-8 hours, Ativan passes again through the liver. Now the liver breaks the Ativan into 2 parts- each part has no psycho-active effects. Lower dosages are used for geriatric adults and medically debilitated patients. Their bodies are slower to metabolize Ativan into its 2 inactive parts. ...Read more

I was on ativan (lorazepam) 6 mg for 15 days how long will the half life last I heard only a day or two?
More Information?: Please re-ask this question with some context on why you are asking. There is nothing about the half life of benzodiazepine medications on their own. If you are asking about testing then the average urine screening for benzos can easily pick these up for six weeks after the last use, regardless of the 'half life' of the medication. ...Read more

My Ativan (lorazepam) is as needed. 5 3x a day, Can I take two at one time? As long as I don't take more then 3 in one day.
Great Question: The truth is that you CAN take two at a time. The real question is SHOULD you? Ativan (lorazepam) is a short-acting anti-anxiety medication that is very effective. When the effect wears off, patients are inclined to take more. This sets the stage for over-use, misuse and possibly abuse. Talk to your doctor before altering your medication dose or schedule. There are many options to managing your symptoms. ...Read more
I was taking ativan (lorazepam) 3mg at bedtime for 6 weeks and stopped jan 23rd and still feel aweful. How long does this last?
Not sure what it is.: You don't say why you were taking the Ativan (lorazepam) or how you now feel awful. The Ativan (lorazepam) itself is long ago out of your system, so it's not causing the problem. Did you have a return of whatever symptom you had before, e.g., not being able to get to sleep? Do you feel bad in a new way? Assuming a doctor prescribed the ativan, (lorazepam) speak with him/her about what's happened; no need to continue to suffer. ...Read more
