How Long Should Vaginal Tear Last
Few day: A few days to heal as long as nothing in vaginal until tear heals.
It depends.: Most tears should heal within two to three weeks at the most. Topical Bacitracin (not neosporin) with a pad should be changed two to three times daily, and at least a daily bath or shower. It should heal without any problems but it might be sore for a few weeks to months so be careful with intercourse and bicycles, spin classes, etc.
5-7 d rest: 5-7 days if you give the area rest and keep it clean. Of course size and depth and surrounding tissue health matters.
Not long: In the amount of time till the next time you have sex
A few days: If it's just a superficial tear, it should just be a few days. Keep clean, and you can apply A&D ointment to help if it stings. If it doesn't improve, see doctor.
Depends on the cause: Traumatic tears run the risk of infection which can prolong the healing process. Minor tears sustained during birth will heal spontaneously very quickly since the vagina has a strong blood supply (2-3 weeks). If it's been 1-2 weeks and you see no improvement, or you have pain or discharge or any odor, you should see your gynecologist. Due to the location, infections can occur commonly.
Week or two perhaps: If the problem seems minor then refrain from any vaginal activity for two weeks. If the pain or bleeding is significant, or it does not get better then please have a doctor's visit.
Bled while having sex and on/off spotting after having sex. If this is just a vaginal tear how long will it take to heal? If not, what is wrong?
Vaginal tear: Tear or rip on vaginal mucosa.Get a more detailed answer ›
Yes, cause needed: If the vaginal tear is due to intercourse and not a sexual assault, then washing with an antibacterial soap twice daily and a keeping it clean and dry will allow it to heal on its' own. If the tear was due to a bicycle accident or assault, a MD needs to evaluate the area and determine whether stitches are needed and/or the best way to treat it.
Is this post-deliver: A "sitz" bath is the german word for sitting, and it basically means soaking in a bath tub. The purpose of this is to keep the are clean. You should check with your obgyn but normally, this area will heal well by keeping a pad with Bacitracin ointment (not neosporin) and changing this twice daily. A bath can feel soothing but a shower is perfectly fine and it is okay to get wet. Should heal well.
Not always: Not necessarily, but you seen right away to be checked.
