Depends : Depends on symptoms and age of person. Older with more weakness/confusion. If surgically drained on somebody doing well, they may spend anywhere from 1-7 days in the hospital. The goal is...: The goal is to live a good life. If an elderly person has lived a good life and her time has come, then "hoping for survival" should not be the consideration. We are not here on Earth to survive the longest possible number of days, but instead, just to live a good life no matter how long or short.
