Also the physician takes into account the type of material that is packed in the incision. Certain packing can remain in the wound up to seven days while others need to be removed within the first 24 to 48 hours. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it necessary to change the packing of a wound left by the draining of a perianal abscess everyday, since its so painful? My wound is 1.5 inches deep.
Yes!: The point of draing and packing space and then removing the packing and repacking is to prevent an &&andinfection from setting in there. It is not the cleanest part of your body and it will take a while to fully heal. The incision and drainage (I & D) is more important to your cure than whatever antibiotics that you may be taking. As the packing is removed a probe should be inserted & moved aroun ...Read more

What are the cause(s), possible outcomes (both good and bad), and best cure for a granuloma at the lower surgery incision point of an allograft ACL reconstruction? How long should it take to recover from the granulomatous?
The granuloma began oozing c
Tough question: This is not an easily answered question. Most diagnosis of granulomas distal to an acl reconstruction have a high potential for being an infection. Some of these are continuous with the graft, fixation, and even the joint. Because of this, a careful examination along with imaging is often needed to assess whether an extensive debridement versus graft removal is necessary. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How long would you need to be kept in the hospital after suffering a deep thigh laceration requiring stitches?
Thigh laceration kept in the hospital: I take that you are in hospital, ask your Dr. It all depends of the nature of the wound. is the clean?, deep, required reconstruction, if is deep, did the Drs placed a drain?, how long ago the wound took place, do you require frequent dressing changes, do you have a wound-vac in place? Are you on iv antibiotics? do you still require imaging images. Are you febrile, etc. As you see, this wound which required repair and cleaning, may not be straight forward, therefore the input of your Dr. is more valuable than mine. next time during their round, just ask them, " when do you think I will be going home?" ...Read more
